Ever find coins you don't even remember buying?

I was moving what I thought was some empty PCGS boxes when I heard some rattling inside-- and lo and behold: PCGS Coins I Don't Recall Buying!

1984 S Proof Washington Quarter PR69DCAM
1951 Proof 66 nickel (in a rattler)
1954 Proof 67 nickel (in a rattler)

Nothing amazing, but I don't really remember buying these. I'm sure this has happened to other folks. I only wish I had not remembered buying MS63 Saints when gold was under $350 an ounce.

    After around 50 yrears of collecting coins I find stuff all the time I didn't remember owning. I once posted pictures of the Wright Brothers 50¢ Commem only to find two I owned and didn't remember ordering. I ran across a folder of Roosevelt Dimes I didn't remember owning until I found them and it jogged my memory as to when I got them. See there is advantages to getting old. You find new stuff all the time.

    I have holes in my Capital Plastics multi-coin Jefferson proof holder for 1951 and 1954-- I must have bought them and decided not to crack them out. Mystery sorta solved.

    I can't remember finding coins that I did not remember buying, but I have found coins that I thought that I had sold. One that comes to mind was not a coin, but a satirical Bryan dollar that I misplaced and thought that I had sold. I was most happy when it turned up on a shelf I had when I lived in Massachusetts.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    I keep meticulous records of all silver coins and whatnot that I find, so no, I don't ever misplace coins or not know where they came from and how much I paid.
