Are you still buying PM's?

Just curious, with all the uncertainty and if we are in fact headed towards a great depression, is it smart to continue to purchase Precious metals at current levels? I would think that everything would go down including precious metals if the market continues to slow down?

I have been buying every week for the past few years and will continue doing so. PMs are a part of my overall investment portfolio but as time goes on, they are becoming more and more the most important part of my portfolio.

They will retain their value and probably increase in value when compared to many other investments.

No. Although I do have my eye on a nice AU $10 Indian... which is sorta bullion, sorta not.

    Yes - all three.

  • Yep, I buy a little when I have "leftovers" of my weekly expense cash. I find that it's an effective way to save for my next large coin purchase. The money seems to vanish if I don't convert it into bullion, yet is convertable to cash when really needed if a "deal" shows up.

Yup. Gold (and to a lesser extent, silver) is basically a short position on paper money. And we all know where fiat dollars are heading.

    Avid collector of GSA's.
  • I have been concentrating on finding and buying rare 1-oz silver art bars that are on my silver art bar wish list. Any further drop in the spot silver price does not bother me.

Yes when a good deal comes along and it's something I'm interested in. I just started a set of the 5 oz ATB P-Mint specimen coins so I'll be buying at least 50 ozs of silver this year.

I think it depends on who it gets worse for.

Buying PM's that have some numismatic value attached. Probably will continue to do so, regardles. Stopped buying bullion about 6 month ago, but have been selling rounds & common silver bars for almost 1 year. Selling Gold is not in my immediate forecast, but if it should hit $1650, I'll consider it.

As long as I'm working I'm buying. The set schedule right now is the 2010 mint pucks that I'm doing. But I'm shooting for a monthly allotment once those are done at more spot-ty items. Not much by most folks standards here apparently, but whatever few hundred a pop I can do.

    Yes, mainly gold.
It's a fun and easy way to save some money since I am not good at saving cash.

I've backed way, way off for several reasons. My real estate project is coming to a head and I'm reluctant to allocate dollars to anything regardless of price for the next 60 days or so. Prices are high, selection is very limited, I'm pretty comfortable with what I have, and my dealer has been closed big chunks of the time lately for...a bridge tournament image
