<< <i>My favorite telemarketer to screw with is the one that calls you selling aluminum siding. I go along with their entire pitch asking questions along the way that appear to qualify me as a perfect mark. Then just before they are ready to hang up I ask them the final question:"How do you make that siding stick to the bricks?" They usually freak and/or utter many obscenities at this point before hanging up. >>
Love it..unfortunately, with my phone # on the do not call list, the only calls I get is from either Republican or Democrat fundraisers....I usually ask them "why are you calling me" I'm a: giving the opposition party. It works, my phone requests for political contributions are way down.
What I'd like to do instead is call their bosses every day at dinner and brag about my grandkid.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
<< <i>I always feel bad for those poor blighters. They get minimum pay to pester angry people who abuse them or (most mercifully) hang up on them.

Many of these telemarketers are handicapped and this is the only work they can get to feed their families. Usually, I just say "No thank you" and then just hand up.

With the comments made about this, it is very enlightning to see how spiteful and vindictive some people can be to someone they don't even know. Those people might really need that job that may seem trivial to you. What does it prove? That you can be a big man behind a phone? I often wonder why people treat others in this manner, when it is totally unjustified. They most likely wouldn't talk like that face to face, so why on the phone, or like here on a Forum? Makes no sense to me. If you don't want to be called by telemarketers, put your number on the DNC list. I haven't gotten a single call since doing so years ago.
all jmho.

You can't be serious! Most of them are college students. I was a telemarketer during my college years. While there were lots of college students working, I don't remember one person with disabilities.

So, if it's only a student trying to work his way through college it's OK to be rude and spiteful. Got it.

The rudeness and spitefulness came with the job. I would add my rejects per night and would make it a game to see if I could get up to 100. At that kind of job, you just have to go with the flow. We were trained to not let a caller go until they said no three times. Obviously most customers hung up before saying no three times.

I think having too much time on ones hands playis into this. If you're wasting your valuable time messing with a telemarketer, that tells me something about you.
<< <i>At the root of it all is why be that way in the first place to someone is just doing thier job? As said before, if you don't want them calling put your number on the DNC list.

I agree with you Rich.

So do I. I'm surprised how many mean spirited forum members we have here.

<< <i>I think its a funny bit. I personally wouldnt do that because I dont have the patience to be on the phone with a home invader......I mean tele marketer......for longer than 7 seconds though. >>
That's why when I hear their sales pitch I immediately say "no thanks" and then I immediately hand up. I don't have time to play games with some stranger trying to make a living.

Thats basically how I feel about tele-marketers in general.
Anyway it was a 2 and a half Indian and a $5 Indian in a special case. When I said no thanks he said he could sell one for $1,100. I said it's still too much and he hung up on me!
By the way, that sounded just like Mitt Romney, and the face on the Sabbath rip-off looks like Mitt, too. Can someone please explain that?
