Depending on your computer operating system, you could do a systems restore, of which the one you can do would keep all your current files, photos, etc, while removing all of the viruses which get in the registry. Certain types of downloaded programs though may have to be reloaded. Don't do the full systems restore or everything would be removed and your computer would be restored to its original virgin condition.
There are also online services which will safely and accurately do all of this for you for around $75 to $150 - takes around an hour to do, you give them online access to your computer and they clean everything up for you.

I caught a similar type of virus around 6 months ago - it was called "designte" and was making its ugly rounds on the internet at that time. I couldn't log on to the internet, and couldn't even open up my files, and it would block any attempt at a restore. To make a long story short, I think I could successfully remove it now if I caught it again, but I'm still not 100% sure because of course I won't know that unless I catch it again or a similar virus.
With another computer at that time, I did some quick research and found:

I thnk they may have another phone number for sales, but you can Google it at work and easily find it. You would call them at home, and on the phone they will tell you how to get the computer online to them, and then they will remove that virus and all the other adware and malware on your computer, and you won't lose any data or files. As I mentioned, I had to reupload a few programs, but amazingly, the data on these programs was all still there. Highly recommended but it wasn't cheap - cost me $139 but I gladly paid it because I can't be without a computer.
I was actually watching a Phillies game tonight on TV. I know the game was on ESPN but was watching it on SportsSouth. One of the SportsSouth channels here carries the Braves and for some reason or the other we get the Reds on the other one? Was watching on the Reds channel so I wouldn't have to listen to the biased ESPN announcers. ESPN announcers switch sides during a game more times than I can count. Terrible coverage. Stevek should be happy, the Phils won.

Of course I'm always happy when the Phillies win, but not jubilant at this point...the NL East race was obviously over a number of weeks ago.
Not much to really root hard about until the playoffs...I'm saving up my fan energy for then. LOL
I'm glad the Yankees lost that series. Nothing against the Yankees in this regard because I would have preferred to have seen another Phillies-Yankees World Series...but I think the outcome of that Yankees-Tigers series will help wakeup the Phillies tonight to realize that a heavily favored team still needs to go out there, and produce, and win the game.
Phillies win tonight's game easily - no problem...I'm not even worried about it...and thank you Yankees for providing the needed message to the Phillies players.

For us Phillies fans, a sad early ending to the post-season. I don't feel so terrible, though, not being an all-or-nothing kind of fan. I've been a Phils fan for over 40 years and I can truly say that watching them during the regular season this year was mostly a total joy. Other than their one end-of-season slump, they were consistently good, and rarely lost a series. No complaints from this fan, I loved the 2011 Phillies.

agreed. we had literally 7 months of basking in wins and high quality baseball. a 2 game losing streak, ending in a shutout to an all-star can't negate everything tho it is disappointing.
