Phils just quietly won 7 in a row...moving like a tremendous machine.

NL East race over? Not yet, but it could be soon.

Think I'll sneak into the Phillies thread again to see what's going on.

Ah ahhhh a Lathe with a bat in it and a long drill bit and cork the same size as the drill bit. I box of plugs for the end of the bat. MMMMM, now why does that ring a bell?

Now stevek I'm just a funning you. Yes the Phils have won 7 in a row and we are back on track with a one game winning streak ourselves.
A come from behind win too.

    << <i>stevek,

With the way the Phils are playing, I'm not sure why you aren't keeping this thread going. Anywho, Cliff Lee is a total beast. I'm still bummed he rebuffed the Yanks. Oh well, he'll just have to retire not knowing what it feels like to win the World Series. >>

Steve the Phils have already won 5 to zip tonight and the Braves are down 3 to 2 in the 7th. I try and the Braves record says they are playing better than I see, but I think they had ought to win every game. But, the season ain't quite half over yet. There is a lot of baseball to play yet. We shall see.

Yes, it's great having guys like Cliff Lee on our team...and it's a wonderful time to be a Phillies fan.

Perhaps we'll meet again in the World Series. image

You're right, not over yet...the problem though for the Braves is over the past recent years, the Phillies have been a better second half team...we'll see if that holds up.

The Braves did manage to win tonight 5 to 4 over Seattle to keep them at 4½ games back of the Phils. It should be a good season.

A note on the side. Unlike the Mets and the Dodgers I don't really hate the Phils I just want them to go away sometimes.

Could be the two teams in the World Series...I wouldn't mind that one bit - but as long as one of them is the Phillies image

I think the no DH thing while playing NL teams really puts a big bug in any AL team's lineup. As for the Red Sox, our case is having Ortiz sit out while the inept pitchers bat and kinda look silly. Ortiz is a key player in our lineup...witness the fact that he almost put one in the Allegheny (on the fly) while recently in Pittsburgh.

Oh well, it is what it is, at some point it needs to be all DH or no DH...there is just an inequity there when two pro teams play under two different rulles, important rules.

You've got a great looking ball team...Fenway allows for wall-ball doubles or easier home runs and a very short right field porch. Who needs the Yankees? Besides, their pitching will be their downfall this season.

    Enjoy the season, continued success.

Well, our Phils got beat up today, but I'll take a 2 wins outa 3 series anytime.

Junior circuit team fans are praying they don't meet the Phillies in the World Series.

Credit where credit is due, the Braves are hanging in there tough. Even the Mets have become somewhat respectable lately.

I like it better this way...to see the Braves and Mets fans NL East championship hopes dashed later in the season rather than too early...it stings more that way. image

Oh Stevek, the Braves are back in form again and wonder of wonders, Uggla is starting to get some life in his bat. Prado is in Charlotte playing the Knights with the Gwinette Braves and should be back real soon. It will deffinitely be a great second half. Thats what the game is all about. I love it.

I don't know who saw it but McCann took a vicious hit in the "cup" the other night. It hurt me just to see the replay on TV. They only showed the replay once.

The Braves have owned the Phillies this year and there is another head to head matchup around the corner. I suspect the Braves might pick up a game or two more. Bravos are en feugo rigbht now....

You should be happy the Phillies were able to win ONE series vs Atlanta this year. I was starting to think they wouldn't. And it took a home series with your top 3 pitchers to win 2 out of 3.

I found this thread hiding on the 3rd page of the Sports Talk Forum. Me thinks it was trying to sneak out of town in case the Braves catch the Phils. Let's just put it back on the front page where it belongs.

Figured I would get all dressed up to come into the Phillies Thread this time

Maybe I should get dressed up more often Phils lost to the Cubs and the Braves beat the Rockies. Braves are 2½ back now.
I think I'll drink one of these Sam Adams stacked up over here in the corner to celebrate. What kind of room is this? All the tables are over turned.

Everytime someone, especially Braves fans, bashes Ryan Howard...the Phillies have a big game, and they are leading the Cubs 7-0 already in today's game.

    Thank you! LOL

While no one is looking I will sneak in here again. Let's see now, Miss Rudolph the Root Lady told me to sprinkle some of this powder in all the corners of the room. She also said to rub this monkey foot on the door of the equipment locker.

Nah!, I can't do this, even I can't stoop this low. If the Phils beat us they will just have to do it. No Voodoo magic for me.

Won't work - I burnt some phantom 1964 Phillies WS tickets, and threw the ashes into the Schuylkill River some few years ago, and that exorcised all Phillies demons.

Crazier things have happened - I may have to become a Brett Favre fan this season. LOL

One thing for sure, in my opinion, is that Kevin Kolb will likely be a bust anywhere he goes as a #1 quarterback.

Stevek- You've really teed this one up for us. This trade will go down as one of the worst of recent memory. I understand you're in a position to play for NOW, but trading your top 2 prospects for Hunter Pence is ABSURD. Pence was the best player on the worst team in baseball...in reality he is a journeyman with a below average bat who only excels at stealing bases and has a plus glove. He is not worth top prospects IMO. You should have paid up to rent Beltran for the rest of the year instead. See you in the NLCS.

  • Well, I'm tired. I need rest and sleep. I've cussed, snorted, ranted, raved, sabotaged stevek's room, went to see the Root Lady, used powders and potients in the Phils locker room, all to no avail. The Phils just won't go away. I'm going to sleep awhile and maybe the bad luck slump will attack the Phils while I'm not looking. Oh well.
