Wanna see something crazy?

I was looking on heritage to get a better idea of the value for my Kennedy half that I recently bought. This thing is a freaking Monster. I took it to a coin show and some dealers had to pick there jaws off the ground. Any who, I found it on Heritage. Horrible picture but still..........ONLY $69!?!?image Boy I wish I would have gotten it at that price! I was so relieved to get it at the price I did! I guess it just goes to show what a difference an accurate picture can make! I thought it was kind of funny considering one member here offered me $850 for it. Any other reasons besides poor pictures you guys can think of?

thanks for looking

    LInk didn't work, crap.

The pic is kinda dark, so I can't tell much about it. Looks like it could have some nice color, though. What did it go for?

I think it is kinda funny that you didn't accept the $850 offer. Try finding a matching offer.

You turned down $850? Wow. Isn't that a $100 coin, maybe a little more if eye appeal is off the charts?

  • Coins not for sale thats why I didn't except the offer. Matter fact, it has all ready been cracked out and sent to NGC. I got the coin for $412 on Ebay. It ended at noon on a monday or else I think it would have went for more.

I don't care...I would buy this coin in a PCGS holder. I wouldn't even consider it in any NGC holder. Star, plus, fancy label doesn't do anything to me.

Edited to add: maybe if I wanted to sell it, as the market does seem to care. But personally, no.

I send all of the coins I want to sell to PCGS because they get the strongest prices.I dont have anything against either grading company. I like them both! I just prefer to have the coins I am keeping in a NGC holder. Its not that big of a deal I dont think.

Somehow I get the feeling you'll think it is a big deal if NGC only gives it a 65 grade. But, it's your coin!image

Wish I knew how to search the archives here, I am pretty sure you are the one that had a $600 and something snipe ready for the coin. Maybe thats where the hostility is coming from?

I for one think the value was closer to the 69$ price then the 400$ one in PCGS plastic but in an untrusted NGC holder were really talking about melt factoring into the new price.

That's an unfair claim. My experience is that NGC actually calls more coins AT than PCGS.

If the coin looks like the photo or better then I would like to think that a kennedy half collector would be willing to lay down some good coin for it. I know us franklin addicts would! Psssst I like stars too image

    Interesting coin.
For under $80, I would be a buyer with "fun money".
For over $80 (up to $200), it would need to really be "fun money".
Above that, and it is pure "enjoy it if you have the money to throw around...you make a lot, have a lot saved, no bills, etc".

You like it, more power to ya. I haven't agreed with some of the coins you have posted, but I also haven't seen you whine about being buried in them.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Just seeing the pic above my post, I would not have cracked it out. I would have kept it in the PCGS holder, and got more money out of it when I went to sell.

Jon, I really hope this works out for you. That latest image is not inspiring.

Choose the TPG you like. But I am very surprised you cracked it out. That $412 purchase will be worth a lot less, raw or in a details holder.

I have no issue with the price you paid for the coin or the amount turned down for the coin. However, it was quite risky to crack it out prior to sending it to NGC, but that is only my opinion.

Pics are nothing like in hand but judging from the pattern of the toning im a 100% sure (that's right) it will holder no problems image. Will it get the star you may ask? If it looks like the pic you posted, im 100% sure again it will image.

Uh, no. I don't collect 1964 Kennedy Halfs, even when they're neon. Not even if they're Accented Hair Proofs. Not even if they're Proof 69 Deep Cameo. If you want to equate a subjective opinion with hostility, feel free. Enjoy the coin as a $412 warm fuzzy. After all, it's your coin. image

Looks like it has a fingerprint on it. Since when do 66's have fingerprints?

If the picture is accurate, the color is something really special. Very unusual to see so much green, in my experience. It does look NT to me and I can see a lot of folks bidding crazy money on it - not me personally, but there is still a huge market for crazy toners. Remember those two Franklins last week that went for moon money on Teletrade. To each his own. At the end of the day, I don't care for the fingerprints on the coin, but that is just personal preference. Easy to look past them for spectacular toning, I reckon.

I am perplexed by the crackout and resubmit approach. If you prefer it in NGC, that is fine, but why not just a direct crossover?

Enjoy it, it is pretty unique.

I think there are more then germs of truth in Will's statement.

To an earlier statement above I've seen 67's with a finger print.............

I'm a sucker for star's also BUT, I wouldn't have cracked this. I would have crossed it if I went the NGC route. I'm guessing it will come back a 65*. Just a hunch. Let us know!

I know most don't care about the star thing but they do have a following just the same.

The image looks really juiced. I'm sure it has some nice rainbow toning, but about $100 coin for me.

I would have never cracked from pcgs holder????
