If you like Massachusetts silver...

Actually, any numismatist with a pulse should buy this book.

My copy arrived a couple of days ago, and I am in awe!

I could afford the book, but what is the point?

No way I can afford the coins!! (well maybe in AG and that would be sad).

I've never had the pleasure of even seeing a Massachusetts silver.

Agreed. I have the 1804 dollar book, and even though I have gotten to play with five of them over the years I will never own one.

Thanks for the post as prior to it's release I've seen a few review copies sell for $150 and figured that was the retail.

I am afraid that if I buy and enjoy the book I might be compelled to add more to my collection. image

OK, you talked me into it.

Again, being just a little guy, I have never owned a Pine Tree but,

I have owned an Oat Tree shilling and know alittle about them. I could away learn more.

    Reviving an old thread.

Aside from MrEureka's witty comment about Hugh Hefner...

If you're interested in Massachusetts silver, you should read this CRO Commentary.

I already have John Hull, The Mint and the Economics of Massachusetts Coinage by Louis Jordan, which is very good book. I'm not sure how much more I'd learn from the this one. I paid as muchor more for the Jordan book. I can't remember.

    I am, I am.
That is one of the few coins left on my "I want it!" list of general coins not in my core collection of 1/2 cents.
The book looks interesting, but I am not an ANS member (the discounted price) and I am a poor broke boy and that is not a cheap price (sure, may be cheap to many who buy books, but I prefer slightly less expensive image ).

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

This is a fantastic work by a great scholar in the field of Massachusetts silver.

Bill Jones: he draws some really great conclusions on the variety numbers made by Noe and Picker, and makes a lot of sense with his new attribution numbers, many of which are the same as some of Noe's. I highly recommend this book for anyone even remotely interested in this coinage. Even if you do not plan to purchase a piece of MA silver, the book is a very entertaining read.

I got my copy a few days ago. It's impressive--big, realllly nice photos. Almost a coffee-table kind of book (if you're a coin nerd). It contains lots of info not in Jordan's book on John Hull.
