I'm 100% behind what everyone is doing for those kids. It's honestly heartwarming and a great thing. Something the organizers and the donators should be very proud of.
Maybe we all just need to look in the mirror a bit. Look at how people are treated while they are alive on this earth. Its the hypocrisy of the whole thing, not the donations to those poor kids and family.
The checklists were not stamped so anyone can get checklists from the regular 1991 Topps set and call them Desert Shield cards. There is absolutely no difference in the checklist cards.
<< <i>They were likely sold at military exchanges because......baseball cards weren't on many troops want lists back in 1991 while deployed. It is interesting to note and surprising that there hasn't been a new set released by another company in tribute to Iraq or Afghanistan. >>
Actually Topps did make an "Operation Enduring Freedom" set right after 9/11. I not only have that but all three series of the Topps Desert Storm cards with stickers. I'd like to someday get the ProSet version too. As for the expensive 1991 Topps Desert Shield one...well that set is way way WAY above my pay grade.
this entire thread has been a first time read for me. never met mike and my response has absolutely nothing to do with him.
upon reading this entire thread and then hitting the "wow" link above, it's pretty clear that mr. probstein knew exactly what was going on. I've had my suspicions before, but upon seeing their correspondences in the "wow" thread, how could he not have firsthand, personal knowledge.
it's absolutely deplorable the amount of times this guy keeps getting the free pass on known shilling, posting fake items and obvious questionable business practices, yet the world keeps turning their head to blatant fraud. the only people that stick up for the guy are the ones sending him items. haven't really seen too many posts by actual real buyers stating "I got a fabulous deal on yada, yada, yada with probstein".
someone seriously needs to make a call and or forward the combination of these 2 threads to the njbi, along with the jeter attempt and about 5 other things that I can ring off in a matter of seconds. I mean these are undeniable, dead on balls accurate, admitted facts.
feel free to bash me for this, I have thick skin but after reading all of this and bouncing from thread to thread, it's just absolutely disgusting.
just found it ironic that the thread link above was called "wow".

Leaving it at that would probably be best, at least if you wish to keep posting here under your current ID. If you wish to continue your train of thought, do it in a thread that nobody would mind being locked or deleted. Threads like this definitely aren't the place to vent your frustration with certain high-profile site members. Not saying your frustration isn't valid, but history has shown that public displays of said frustration won't be tolerated here.
