Silver buillion bars on ebay?

Purchasing silver buillion bars in 1 oz form from various scottsdale, morgan, walking liberty etc. uncirculated.
Are these safe purchases? in the $34-$37 range.

Is it just a hype with all the buyers right now, will these just as easy to cash in later if need be?

If I were to buy a particular lot of 10 oz's of silver what would be your suggestions?

Scottsdale bars will carry a higher premium over melt, than the morgan or walking liberty knock off's. Personally, I've always purchased my bullion, except for Art Bars, directly from a bullion dealer.

I tend to agree with OPA's response, the exception being if I see something that I simply must have.

I just looked up some of the buillion dealers like scottsdale and see that their prices are significantly lower than what the same bar sells for on ebay, whats the deal?
I assume there are tons of buyers as clueless as I am to look on ebay and bid up those offerrings.

Any thoughts on Scottsdale bars? "The one"
I like these for storing away....better alternatives?

I like the Scottsdale 10 oz Omnia Stackable Bars ( Made by Academy for Scottsdale) & have several hundred ozes of them. Good company to deal with. Go for it.

You might check apmex, gainesville, and provident.

They all offer a selection of name brand bars and should be competitively priced.

Lots of buyers don't do their homeworks and just bid on eBay.

The Scottsdale bars are very very nice. Better alternatives are JM and Engelhard, but they are harder to find at a decent premium.
SilverTowne and PanAM are well recognized as well.

Is there better value or advantages of buying a single 10 oz bar versus 10 pieces of 1 oz bars?
    Or is it all preference.

It depends on your budget & storage area...10 oz bars are easier to store & carry a smaller premium than the 1 oz bars....

let me toss another maker into the ring.....I like the Monarch 10oz loaf type, they also have some nice 2 and 5 ozers..personally I find 10oz and less are the most liquid when selling
  • I'm looking for a 5 oz commercial bar to spend my ebay bucks on. No luck finding a reasonable price on one so far. Maybe I'm not being realistic.

I'll buy either one if the price is right.

Best place to buy silver bullion bars is my local B&M dealer. 60 cents over, and thats on premium bars like JM and Engelhard.

I recall that Silvertowne or Pan American (or maybe both) produces 5 ounce bars. They should be reasonable. Older 5 ounce Engelhards are occasionally available but they're popular with bar colllectors. Those usually sell well above spot.
