Here's the photo from my Facebook page. I just finished climbing a mountain between Kabul and Jalalabad when this little Afghan girl came begging for food and water. Can you imagine your young daughter being next to a strange man with 210 rounds of 5.56 ammo around his waist... with 30 locked and loaded?

She must have been very hungry and thirsty. Hope she got some food? God Bless you guys!!!
I initially signed up to keep tabs on my kids....back when FB wasn't ubiquitous. Later, when sign up requirements were relaxed, it became a very useful tool for mass communication. Instrumental in facilitating a couple high school reunions (bye bye classmates.com).
I would not recommend facebook for coin collecting cuz the privacy settings are not very secure.
But, some of the FB format and structure might enhance message boards.

My heart goes out to that beautiful little Afghan girl. llafoe, thank you for your service......you brought a tear to my eye!!!
I am on there, all day every day it seems like. Any of you play Car Town? I'm level 60.
If any of you do look me up, you won't see any of the (admittadly little) coin stuff I post. I have that keyed to people on my Numismatics list so not everyone else can see it.
Just put the slash and my name, that's me. Most of my posts are about A) NASCAR my scale model building or C) whatever thing I feel like talking about that day. I currently have 777 friends, although the number isn't always the same, it changes with every refresh. (I've met less than half in person)
Although our school District still has not issued a directive, most of the surrounding districts do not permit teachers to even have a Facebook account. Just too much stuff going on they are concerned with.
I've got one - honestly I don't think I could participate in group projects at school without one
The LSCC guys tried to start a group but it didn't really take off. Most of the people in that group are from this forum - i think there are 20-30 of us in the group.
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!
Can be too vicarious. Also, people I haven't known for over 30 years popped up out of nowhere. I deleted my account; my wife has an "alias" account to keep up with close family and friends. I personally never felt comfortable with it. Paranoia and such

Longacre has better things to do during the day than to read about someone's visit to the dentist on the Facebook. I still don't see the relevance of it, but there was an article in the WSJ yesterday that said based on the private trading of Facebook shares, the company is valued at tens of billions of dollars.

Yes, I do. Mainly for family (widely dispersed) and some close friends. Others creep in through mutual listings. I do not visit it often, maybe three times a week, or when alerted by a message. Cheers, RickO
You guys do know you can pick and choose who sees what, right? The media makes it seem like anyone in the world can see everything you post, but that's simply NOT true. Anything at all that you post can be shown to who you choose, down to the specific person if you so choose.
I made a group among my friends for numismatic people and anything I post about it is seen only by them, not everybody else.
If you look at my page without being my friend on there you won't see my coin/currency album of photos because I have it keyed to only be seen by people who are on my numismatics list.
However, everyone CAN see what you become a fan of.

And, yes, I totally agree with you....when people post things like "sitting down and having a cup of tea", I ask myself "why would you think I care?
I wouldn't even know how to (or want to) start one. My personal life is my life.
To answer the questioned posed, No, I have never facebooked or tweeted, at all.
Thought about it but thought it might not be too safe regarding coins - especially these days!
Happy Holidays to everyone,

On my personal page there is no mention of coins, but I do have coin friends. The business page is a different story.
