<< <i>EDIT: I'm generally not one to start picking on grammar or spelling in an informal message board setting, but I'll darn sure pick on "someone picking on someone's grammar". Hence the reference to the internet rule. >>

Dude what the hell are you talking about? When did I ever complain about anyone else's grammar or spelling? >>

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought.

FWIW, the buyer e-mailed me and we ended up completing the transaction after she sent a single combined payment Wednesday afternoon, after the refunds had finally been credited back to her.

I think we need to ease up on CrazyMind. Every new member does go through their initiation phase. There were some memorable characters in the past that did not have thick enough skin to make the cut. Remember Mintacular? He was a piece of work. There were others too.

Anyway, CrazyMind had a tough case to deal with and he sounds smart enough to realize what he could have done differently in hindsight. Its not a big deal. He never acted in bad faith and was never out to wrong anyone. I think he can be an asset to this board. He recognizes multiple scenarios to a situation as with the do not accept multiple payments for one shipment.

His stance on the corporate greed thing should not be overlooked. Paypal and ebay are one entity yet there are multiple fees to deal with in one specific transaction. By taking a little here and there, they hope the customer does not realize what is going on. Ebay sent me an offer to hold my auctions for free. However, there are still Final Value fees and paypal fees to pay, so claiming its free is very misleading. Perhaps its legal, but what did I say about the biggest crooks? They use legal means and a pen to separate you from your money.

  • Thanks again DeutscherGeist. I'm not going anywhere. But it's interesting to see early on who sees things completely differently than I do.

Just to add one more point, one of the things that bothered me about some of the reactions in this thread is that I was in virtually the exact situation as OP (Neil) was in, and I reacted virtually the exact same way, but with different (far worse) results. And people insisted on blaming me for not obtaining the outcome I desired. Yet it wasn't my fault, at least for the most part, and certain people insisted that I was 100% in the wrong and that PayPal and the buyer were 100% in the right. I'm all about results just as much as anybody else, but too many people fail to see the difference between being told you have a choice and actually having one.

So like with the ebay experience itself, I've learned and I have a better understanding of this message board as a result of what has happened. I don't hold grudges without a really, really, really good reason, and someone simply disagreeing with me about something is not a good enough reason. Depending on the subject of the disagreement, it may cause me to be cautious when dealing with that person in the future, but it won't stop me from being cordial and respectful. Someone unfairly and unjustifiably attacking me without cause or evidence and then hiding in the bushes is a totally different story.
