I am a small submitter and would love to get in on your next one
<< <i>"All in it is is not cheap for prep and shipping." You are 100% correct on that. I took a small hit on the 1st one because I didn't charge enough for shipping. On the 2nd one, I corrected the pricing and overall, I think I finished up a grand total of around $17.00 to the good. On the next one I do, I am considering lowering the minimum, and charging an additional $1.00 per card. That will allow small submitters to participate, and the extra money I get from the larger orders for shipping, will offset the expense of the smaller orders shipping, and I think $12.50 will still be a fair price for all inclusive with no other charges, but I haven't decided yet whether to do that or not. >>
If I were to make a recommendation, I would recommend against charging an extra dollar per card across the board to facilitate return shipping costs to the smaller submitters. For example, if PSA is charging $10 per card and someone pays $12.50 for 1 card, they would get subsidized shipping from the guy who sends in 50 cards and has to pay an extra $50 for his order.
My suggestion would be to figure out the per card cost of grading plus shipping to/from PSA and then have a separate sliding scale per submitter for postage costs to return their cards to them. If I was a bigger submitter and had 50 cards, I would not want to pay an extra $50 to cover shipping for the folks who only send in a few cards.
That's how the first group sub was run by Bill and after I ran the numbers, I realized I overspent on shipping to subsidize the shipping for folks who only sent in a few...which is why I ran the next two, introducing the way I recommended above. It was a little more work on my part, but I think it was a little more fair to the folks who had more cards to submit.
On a small scale for my group subs, I typically just total the cost of subbing (with PSA's return shipping costs) and the cost to ship to PSA, and find out a per-card value. I apply that value equally to all cards for all submitters. An exception is if there is serious imbalance of insured value - ie my cards kick that insured value up a notch, I take the hit. I then charge actual shipping back to the submitter. Subbing, depending on the number cards, usually costs about $.75-$.85 above the actual special rate per card.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.
Sadly, even if my link worked, you wouldn't see my Packers team sets. I changed focus on my collection a few months back and sold off the majority of my Packers cards.
That's how the first group sub was run by Bill and after I ran the numbers, I realized I overspent on shipping to subsidize the shipping for folks who only sent in a few...
I am assuming you had the submission # with which to review the cards and grades within the submission. If so, I'd find my cards and enter the cert #s into a set that corresponds to the cards you subbed. This way you can at least be aware if the cards were sold or somehow transferred to shomeone else who may try to enter them into their set. PSA will ask you to delete them from your set(s) at some ponit if this is the case.
Not knowing all the particulars, I don't know if you have any leverage by filing with your cc company or with a paypal complaint. I'd explore these options as well, as these actions will force the holder of the cards to perform.
Short of all the above, I'd out this guy in about a nano-second. We don't need these kinds of members who treat others in this manner.

Hopefully, next time I run out for some fried pork rinds and peanut butter, I hope you'll still say, "Hi, Welcome to WalMart!" when I walk through the front door...
Really Scott, you will go as far as insulting all employees of WalMart just to try to insult me? I am willing to bet that many employees of WalMart are actually proud to be employeed.
Do you feel superior to them? Are they beneath you? Do you switch sides of the road to avoid walking near them?
BTW, if I were unemployeed, which thankfully I am not, I would happily work ANY where to support my family.
I refuse to insult anyone for their honest work to support their family, I guess thats where we differ.

My apologies to any and all WalMart employees for suggesting you would be able to do their job.
You are the master of spin-doctoring. You come in here and falsely accuse Gumby of fraud and continue to take potshots at him (as well as the shot you took at me in another post). Instead of realizing how much of an azz you are, you decide to twist my post and deflect it from you and make it as if I'm elevating myself above someone else, which I did not do. You really do like to paint your own little pictures of the world to make yourself feel better. You really are sad!!! You know what, you are a tool. A huge tool! Comparing you to anything else would be an insult to whatever you are compared against.
I'll leave you to your narrow-minded scope and let you cry your sad little songs about how others do you wrong and let you feel like a man by falsely accusing others. Keep crying . . . And don't forget, you are still a tool!!!
Mike, sorry your thread got derailed. I hope clayshooter comes through and somehow there is a perfectly good explanation for his not delivering your cards. Funny thing is, aside from you and Walt there isn't many who would value those cards all that highly.

As far as the thread getting derailed, you kinda gotta expect it here. And, it is the one's that you expect to do that that are involved. There are a few more McGwire collectors out there besides Walt and I, but I have to agree with you, we are primarily the ones shelling out the dough to keep the Master Set growing. I hope Mike comes through, as well. Scott and I are trying his cell phone and will update if anything comes of it.
