just bullion?

I posted this on BST and someone thought I should get some input from here......busted out some silver proof sets...got 2 rolls of silver state quarters and 1 roll of silver kennedy halves....should there be a premium on that or is it just pretty bullion?

It's just bullion to me. Others might pay a tad bit more, but I also know of some folks who avoid the modern silver proofs as bullion altogether.

I wouldn't buy the state quarters for 25% back of melt.

I would empty my bank account to buy them at 25% back......and so would you. image

I cant believe folks would low ball buying silver coins! Whats the point in investing hard earned money in silver if in the end you cant get a fair price?. I always pay a premium (as small as I can but a premium none the less) on all metal buys.

Most silver statehood quarters are just pretty bullion. They will have a numismatic premium at some point in the future.

Just bullion to me & probably to most BST buyers. Your best bet is eBay, with good pictures and a decent write-up & start your auction at $.99. Even after fees, you'd probably do much better there.

When I was buying OBW rolls of silver a few years ago, I would also buy rolls of proof modern silver if I could get them for a nominal 10% or 20% above spot, but usually the bids would go a bit higher than that, depending on the dates. If I were selling them, I absolutely wouldn't take less than spot, and I'd try to hold out for at least 10% over.
