woohoo! Article states that it can dispense even krugs, maple leafs, and aussie kangaroos!

    several places have stated that these machines dispense gold at a mark up of 30%! I think the idea of these machines is great. All they need to do to make it complete is to design the machines to buy back gold. The gold comes out in a nice plastic case, it would be great if the machine would be able to take it back and dispense cash for those that are in a bind and need to sell.

    how long before someone blows one open. These things will have to be pretty sturdy not to be a major target.

    They will be built like a high security safe and they will be anchored to very heavy reinforced concrete slabs and they will be located in well lit high traffic areas with many security cameras.

    Here are specifications on the machines from the manufacturer.

    The GOLD to go® gold vending machines come in a variety of versions. Each machine can either be safely bolted to the floor or to a back wall. The special gold leaf finishing is a true eye catcher. GOLD to go® ATM’s are customer friendly. Menu navigation is works with a 19″ inch touch screen. The ATM can be delivered with optional advertising screens.






    The GOLD to go® ATM’s are an in-house development and contain cutting-edge components for product distribution, change, monitoring and data synchronisation. They have been developed in cooperation with a leading ATM manufacturer and provide industry standard security features. So far we have invested many man years into the development of our GOLD to go® gold vending machines.


    The software application of the GOLD to go® ATM’s are controlled by an internal PC (w/ UPS). The PC is connected to the german system-network via secure VPN tunnel. Data connection is conducted via LAN . The gold vending machines have the following functions:

    Also for those wondering about theft:

    The machines are fitted "like an armored vehicle" and tested with explosives to prevent theft, and include surveillance cameras that record all transactions.

    Gosh, I hope they do not bolt them to the floor. How else will I be able to shake the machine if my Krug gets hung up and doesn't drop to the bottom? image

    Oh wait.... maybe I would have to purchase another one, and both would then drop at the same time.........
