My very 1st PM barter deal!

Fun story about how I just bartered for goods and services with precious metals.
My outdated kitchen desperately needed new floors, countertops and some fresh paint. Lucky for me, a guy I work with on my job has a painting business on the side. He stopped over at the house to give me an estimate (huge eat in kitchen and the hallway to the bedrooms) of $500 paint and labor. Because he and I discuss PMs at work quite often, I jokingly asked him "cash or metals?". He paused for a second and said "i'll gladly take the metals". Up until today, he didnt own a single piece of bullion. He walked out of my house today, after spending 2 days painting here, with a 1/4 oz AGE and 8 ounces of .999 fine silver. He seemed about as happy as pig in you know what too! It is a tiny start to his stash of security. He did a wonderful job too! Enjoy some before/after photos.

I haven't tried the bullion for services exchange as of yet. So far, I would rather exchange
paper for services. Although I have considered the idea.

My compliments to you both on the transaction. I call this win/win because you BOTH got a bargain. Each gave and each received value.
He politely informed me that he doesn't go there.
Just goes to prove, PMs are as close to cash as you can get.

Only if you cash them in for that worthless "fiat" money.
Gecko's scenario will only work with someone you know ... not gonna happen at most other places.
I've traded in a used riding mower for some roof work, does that now mean used riding mowers are as close to cash as you can get?
You might be able to get one of those roomba's for a few of ounces of silver!
Nice improvements G.
<< <i>Is that a Kirby Classic???? They made those to last forever. We got one of those... if I can only find all the attachments...

Those are some low-mid grade T206 (same set as the famed Honus Wagner) cards of non-HOFers. I think they qualify as little pieces of artwork, and they always stir up conversation when we have company over.
