...i'm hoping they'll be better quality than the mint sets. AND it would be nice to find a variety/error!
Just held off until these come up...going to be cheap again and get both proof set types, the mint sets, and some more spending money in the form of the direct ship bucks, so I only pay 1 postage fee
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
...
<< <i>I have every proof set from 1950 to date, why stop now? >>
I used to think that way, too, but I got better.
Seriously though- as long as you enjoy collecting the sets, what else matters?
here's to hoping the silvers are the same.
<< <i>this year's proof sets were much better than last year's. >>
Last year's must have been junk. Just opened two proof sets and both are going back. Just garbage with spots, hair and dirt embedded in the slabs.
The battle scars of all the good times
<< <i>i'm in for two, what's the issue price this year? >>
... here you go.

I must say that I was most disappointed with the quality of Proof die preparation on the clad Proof sets I saw yesterday. There were lumps and circular patterns in the fields, especially on the presidential dollars, which WERE NOT post strike problems. There were also brown spots on the cents. The mint is not spending the time to make high quality Proof coin dies in many cases these days, and whatever they are using to clean the cent planchets these days is not working.
No, my mint and proof sets ended last year. Too expensive for me.

<< <i>a subscription order has been generated. >>
I went to the Mint Web site and couldn't find where to establish a subscription for silver proof sets. My wife says this is a disorder that happens at birth - "It's a boy!". Help is in order, please.
<< <i>Yep! Just as soon as my local dealer receives his group from the mint, I'll down there to buy them. He lets me mix and match for a fee which is more effective for me that playing the "let's see if I get a crappy Proof set lottery" that I used to play with the mint. I've gotten too many Proof coins from mint with fingerprints on the coins or foreign material in the holder. I’m not looking for PR-70 Ultra Cams, but I do expect to get PR-67 to 69 quality coins.

...AND............. THEY RAISED THE PRICES!!!!!!!!
They raised prices for (among othe reasons) the increase in the price of Silver, over the same time last year, is up from $13.16/oz. to $18.34 today, an increase of 39% (or thereabouts). Granted no one likes an increase, but it's not likely you'd sell them (if you had to) for less than that. Even if it's a wash, there's something to be said for the collectability of the thing...

...true, but they raised prices on just about EVERYTHING and the quality still sucks.
<< <i>Received my 2010 Silver proof set today. Returned same today. Debris on Roosie's face and on Grand Canyon quarter. The quality of coins ok but the packaging must have been done in a barn.
gotta pry em open to blow off debris.
<< <i>mine seem to come with flakes of cardboard off the inserts.

But.......But................But....................they take "pride" in their products!!!!
Oh wait...........the packaging department is not a part of the US Mint!

...yeah, but don't they talk??

After further review, mine also has debris on Roosie's face.
Gonna keep 'em anyway.
Dust, debris, blemishes, a scratch on one of the lenses, and a skidding scrape on another. There was a blemish on the Lincoln Cent, a ding on one of the ATB Quarters, and two of the Presidential Dollars must've been retrieved from the bottom of a bin...
I'm hoping the replacement shows an improvement (hope against hope?)

...got mine today. very very nice! i saw a piece of lint here and there on some of the lens but no biggie.
i did notice, just on the hot spring quarters reverse on ALL of the hot springs in the field on the reverses, what appeared
to be weak snake-skin instead of deep mirrors. all the other quarters were deep mirror fields. anyone else notice
this with their's? all the other denominations were deep mirror in all of the sets.
