Gold Bar Stolen In Florida

    you would think they would have better security for a bar like that.

    I was there a few years ago and had a chance to enjoy the museum and gold bar being discussed. At the time, I remember thinking that it would be fairly easy for someone to do that - smash and grab. I recall the display box being plexi-glass, not glass. I figured someone with a battery powered hot-wire device could slice through pretty easily. Perhaps it was glass as the article stated.

    Agree. It's long gone now never to be seen again. Real shame.

    Not sure about that ... I would not be surprised if the bar is held for ransom, hoping that the insurance company will cough up. The melt value is no where near the insured value.

    I hope you're right. Are you sure it's insured? With the lousy security provided, I can't imagine any insurance company would want to assume the liability of insuring this bar.
