A pretty neat F-12

renomedphysrenomedphys Posts: 3,862 ✭✭✭✭✭
This coin was cracked out of a PCGS F-12 holder for my 7070, and it grabbed me for appearing quite beautiful, despite the grade. Thanks Allen at Northern Nevada Coins!

Hope you like it image

that is what an old used silver coin should look like in my opinion. PQ in my book.

i`d have thought it was a higher grade from what i`ve seen in
how these graded in the past.

I would not consider the coin a Fine 12 by A.N.A. grading standards. Especially with NONE of the letters of LIBERTY visible in the shield.

The 1875-CC twenty cent piece is noted for strike weakness on the left wing of the eagle and the corresponding area on the obverse, which is the word “LIBERTY” and the shield. Still this coin shows a lot of wear on the eagle and Ms. Liberty, which would lead me to call this piece a Choice VG, not a Fine.

I believe that since LIBERTY is raised on 20 cent pieces it wears much easier than it would on other Seated coins. Therefore, LIBERTY should not be used as a prime indicator of wear or grade.

What is wrong with the grade?.....I like coins in varieties of grades, some of my favorites are even well worn AG3's (Early Coppers).......

Nice coin!...I don't think a coin has to be any certain high end grade to be cool......but maybe that's just me.....

At best the coin is a VG10. The eye of the eagle is basically missing and is an indicator of a true Fine+ coin. Too much wear for a Fine grade.
