Chapter 4 Engelhard Gold.

Greetings fellow PM Enthusiast .....

I have mostly stayed with Engelhard Gold in the sealed original COA's.

I have made a few exceptions .... but not many.

Let's start with the bars....

1 gram in the White & Blue COA. This is the only one I have seen.

image

1 gram in the very common Red/White/Blue COA. These usually sell for around $50.

image

2.5 gram .... not a common piece. I am still looking for it in the COA.

image

5 gram ........ This size is very common and sells for a small premium over spot ... usually around $225 or so.

image

10 gram ......... not all that easy to find. If you see one, don't be shy... buy it.

image

The 1/4 oz. bar. I have always like this size bar. Not rare, but not seen all that often.

image

A 1/2 oz. bar. More common than the 1/4 oz.

image

A 1oz. Eagle bar.

image

And the 1oz. Globe bar. The Globe bar is much easier to find than the Eagle.
Notice the style of COA. Every thing in the R/W/B COAs is also found in this paper & staple COA.

image

A 2oz. "finger" bar. Not common but not real difficult to find. Expect these to run $150 - 250 over spot.

image

I have seen 5 & 10 oz. cast gold bars .... just not wild about them....so...

And now one of my favorite Engelhard series ..... The Gold Prospectors. The 1 oz size was minted
from 1975 thru 1987. The smaller sizes were made from 1980 thru 1987 ??. Try putting together
date run sets of these! ( I still have a ways to go on these.) Ilike them enough that I pick every one
that I run across.

image

1oz. 1/2 oz 1/4 oz 1/10 oz

This next series I have named the " Big Flag " series. NONE of these are easy to find.

They come up so rarely that I can't give a "normal" price to expect for these.

This is the only 2.5 gram I have seen .... and the only "gram" size at all.

image

A 1/2 oz.

image

The 1oz.

image

My "Paper weight" .... the 5oz Flag bar.

image

And of course ..... A 1oz. Prospector in Flag COA.

image

DON'T TOUCH THAT DIAL !!!

( I know .... what dial?!?! )

Up next ..... Chapter 5 .... JM Gold.

I think the 25 gram engelhard I showed you a pic of would have fit your collection very nicely! But the condition was questionable.

Gecko I did not buy it. It was for sale at melt a month or so after the coin show which I saw it. I'm not wanting to collect anything anymore and passed on it a second time. Even silverbaron did not want it when I asked if he wanted me to pick it up for him.

Yes it can be. I never saw a picture of a 25 gram gold bar before. Wonder how much it was worth and how many people actually have seen it. Should fetch higher than normal.
  • Anyone have any idea how much the 25 gram bar is worth.

The 25 gram Canadian gold bar is very common. A bar out of

the plastic normally sells for spot or just a little bit above.

At $1225 spot, it should sell around $985 to $1000.

So if its in the plastic what would the price be?

Never seen a 25 gram bar and when I search for it, there was a thread in this very forum in May 2010 that said it was rare? Can't link the thread here but I believe the poster who thought I was someone else had found it and asked about it and everyone told the poster to go back and buy it, its rare, etc.
