Anyone own 10 oz gold bars ?

Or if you don't, is there a compelling reason why not to buy these instead of 10 one ounce gold bars ?
I would just buy it because I feel gold is going higher, as I buy 1 oz gold bars for the same reason. So why shouldn't
I buy a 10 ouncer ? Thanks.

For the same reason that its more convienent to carry 5 $20's instead of a $100 bill. Stay with 1oz and smaller. I personally love the 1/4oz size myself.....thats all I even own anymore except for a $20 saint thats too sentimental to ever sell.

1 oz are easier to dispose off than 10 oz bars. On the other hand, the spread is less on the 10 oz bars than the 1 oz...Biggest factor ... 10 oz bars are 10 x more expensive. If you must, go for it & make it a PAMP...btw, let Weiss & me know if you run across a 10 oz silver PAMP.

Freind of mine bought a few 10 oz gold bars, and when it came time to sell him , it was hard to find a person to buy them locally. And most wanted to pay good amont under melt. I ended up sending it to one of the national firms for him and they still paid slightly under spot.

What if you needed a few thousand dollars for an emergency? Just sell 3 or 4 AGE's and you still have 6 or 7 AGE's left in your stash.

I own a couple of old Englehard poured 10 ounce bars just because I did not want to see them melted when we burned 3,000+ ounces from that one big collection.
I also own that 49.04 ounce U.S. Assay Office bar from the same collection because it has my birth year on it.image

It's fine to own the bigger bars, I love them and the spreads can be very small (percentage wise). However, I would make sure I have the same amount or more in smaller denominations first. ( one oz and 1/4 oz) JMHO. Mix that in with 90% silver and sleep a little better at night. MJ

Big gold bars are really neat and fun to own but they aren't practical for the average working middle class person.

  • Maybe I am wrong on here but I think that fractional gold is better if you prefer to not sell a 1-oz gold coin or bar at a time. Then again, 1-oz gold coin or bar is more than likely going to have a lower premium than fractional gold coins.

Imagine a Gold refinery producing a 10 oz Gold Bar that was scored... like a KitKat Bar....

You'd simply break off a 1 oz piece to sell (if needed image
