Monarch Metals 25oz Silver bar

Most of you have heard of Monarch Precious Metals by now (they opened in '08) and I just bought my first bar from them.

They make some "off" sizes and this 25oz loaf is very nice. About 1" tall X 3.75" long X 1.25" wide. All their bars are poured from recycled Ag (I heard that anyway).

This is a great "in-between" size.

I think the silver is mined in Mexico, and some of it may be recycled. I bought 2- 5oz bars right after they first opened. pretty chunky 'lil bars as I can remember. Good customer service.

Neat bar. I just ordered a 25 oz and a 50 oz bar based on your pics. I like the chunky poured bars like those. They have other sizes like 2, 3, 5, and kilo sized bars.

Thanks. I'm looking at a 50 oz myself and want to pick up a 3 oz because I've never had one.

I thought it was interesting that all their bars are poured. Even the 1 oz.

Red Herring here is a pic of a 3 oz and 1 oz compared to an Engelhard 1 oz. I completely agree with everyone that Monarch has excellent service. BTW that 25 oz is very cool.

Have not seen any of their bars here in Chicago.

I was just looking at their site. Their 1 Kilo bar is marked "32.15 TROY OUNCES" rather than 1 Kilogram. I've never seen a 1 Kilo silver bar marked in the equivalent Troy ounce weight before. Is this unusual?

I usually see 1000 grams on a kilo bar.

    A few months ago, I bought a Johnson-Matthey bar marked "1 KILO".

I suppose it depends on what market the bars are primarily "earmarked" for....Europe and most of the rest of the World...metric system. US, UK .... oz & lb? Would that make sense?

Agree, except the UK is on the metric system. In fact, the US is the only major country that's not on the metric system.

Some of the bars I used to have from Europe would be in grams like 1000 grams or 1 kilo while ones supposedly here would say 32.15 oz
