Did the Social Security Administration ever send out silver bars to their recipients before they issued checks?image

Anyone with a letter and number punch set can make similar bars. They look crude and home made to me.

I can say with reasonable certainty that I was the first in my family line to pour a silver bar!

Don't know them. Probably a 1980 basement job. Lot of private work back then.

I've owned two of these a while back and I knew what SSA stood for but can't recall it at the moment. Let me dig through some emails, etc to see if I can find out.

    Thanks mkman123

Most do look homemade but the large bar has ribbing on both sides. I think you can kind of make it out in the picture
