Who's going to be the first to admit they cracked out a Secure
Plus and resubmitted? Who will be first to test the system of Laser identification?
Hmmmmmmmm, I'm fairly certain that PCGS has done this over and over but do
we believe that it's fail safe?
Will this be the new "doctor" challenge for sharp minds?

but not yet new prong ngc or secure plus pcgs. , , , mostly because I stopped buying coins when the kids were born.
I'm unlikely to be the first, but I'll surely be in the ranks one day
I like to get the authenticity and grade estimate and then look at the coin itself

I have submitted a few coins, but those were raw first ... and I have used PCGS almost exclusively for submissions.
As far as PCGS plastic goes (and sometimes NGC - depending), if it's the right grade (IMO) I usually won't crack it out unless I want it for an album set.
I figure if the coin already has the right "dinner jacket", I just let those be. No reason to pay again for another opinion.
As far as Secure Plus goes, not many coins I collect at this time would likely be submitted for that service ... but when the time comes, I guess I'll decide.
Hell, I finally bought a CAC'd coin (77-S Seated Half), and I'm thinking about turning it into an album piece ... but since it's already in the right holder (PCGS), and at the right grade (AU53), I probably won't.

<< <i>I think if one were to crack out a secure plus coin because they thought it was undergraded... they would submit it regular the second time. I don't think anyone is going to be testing the laser recognition for quite a while.
My thoughts exactly. You may very well be correct. 30 seconds a scan and two sides = 1 minute per coin.
Really labor intensive.

PCGS has to be really, really selective about assigning a plus in order not to hurt SP non-plus'd coins.
Did that make any sense to anyone but me?

<< <i>Didn't PCGS state once that they would "take action" against repeat coin doctor offenders, or people that knowingly submit doctored coins ? >>
Resubmitting isn't doctoring.
However, I don't think the OP question is a test. My guess is the coin will come back in a holder with the same grade and no comment from PCGS. What do you want them to do, put a note in the return shipment "OK, care to try again?" I think they will take your money as long as you want to resubmit it. After enough times they may have a comment as submitting a coin dozens of times until it finally upgrades was one of the things mentioned in the video as stopped by the new program. But they probably have a responsibly to stockholders to quietly pocket your money and return the coin properly graded. They will have multiple fingerprints of the same coin now in their database.

I have no doubts the laser recognition works for a simple resubmission. I have my doubts about a coin that has been changed somehow, such as doctored, toned, etc.

I'd guess hey probably tested it out on cheap pocket change.
<< <i>I'll be the first to admit that I don't have coins worthy of submitting for this service.
But you get a freebie this quarter?
I sent in my freebie for SecurePlus, just could not resist on this coin. The dealer who sold it to me honestly thought it would upgrade.
