<< <i>If you dont mind sending back 3 out of 4 coins e-bay can have some good deals. >>
I have ONLY sent ONE coin back out of about 10,000 coins purchased on ebay.
You must be doing something wrong.

I agree. I've never returned one, or needed to. I have only purchased one which never arrived, but was promptly refunded.
I'm pretty careful when buying on ebay, but not much more than I would be at a coin shop or dealer's table.
I like ebay (for BUYING, anyway)!

Are you buying modern commems?
The photos look dark when I buy them, and when I get the item it is polished white.

I quite agree! Over 1200 lots won and I've only been singed twice.

<< <i>I paid 20 bucks for it. It is probably worth between 60 - 100 bucks, but this goes into the personal collection and is Not for sale. If I was offered $100 for it, I would say no sale as my personal collection comes first. >>
$100.01
The Personal collection comes first, Flipping those coins in not an option. There are many, many other coins that can be flipped. If this coin did not fit my collection, yes it would have been a good flip.
It is hard to be a collector and dealer at the same time, but I am trying
And I agree with you and some of the other posters ... a little caution and dilegence (just like in a shop or on the brouse), and ebay can yield significant treasures. I've missed a few times, but my batting average is very high on ebay for buying.
Oh, and I bid 101. ... only so I can hold it up for ransom with Broadstruck

<< <i> ................ part of the secrete collect............ shhhhh
The secrete collection?
Perhaps if I offered you $120 I could add it to my "festering boil" collection? Or for $150 it would make it into my "oozing lesion" collection?

This goes into one of my Many Secret Collections that make up my personal collection.
Or I could just start a "secrete" collection and add this coin as it "secreted" part of the clad layer

It's neat... but I have no interest in this error.

Broadstruck, I am so Glad we collect different types of errors from each other. We would be paying a lot higher prices if we bid on the same types of coins
