What is a reasonable amount of time to wait before assuming that a bidder/buyer doesn't intend to contact you or pay for an item??
Is there any way to block bidders who choose to keep their feedback (private)??

Ten days. I just went through it with a bidder who had 100% feedback. Let me change this a bit, things happen, computers break, etc, but ten days is plenty. Some people however, think nothing of waiting a week without notifying you,

I give at least 2 weeks before I bother contacting them. They normally pay when they feel like it. I maybe a bit more relaxed about it though as most items I sell are under $100

I specify in my auctions that I require payment within 24 hours. In all actuality I allow 7 days. I usually send an invoice on the 3rd and 6th day. 10 days is a bit long in my opinion and 30 days seems somewhat ridiculous.

I wait 2 weeks (14 days)- and contact buyer

stating that they probably overlooked this win, and if I do not get contact or paid in the next 7 days
I will relist the item and start the npb stuff with eBay



some sellers get really excited and start badgering on a daily basis, and turn off buyers

who will pay when it is convenient to them

you do not know (and probably could care less) about their like - and they could have won too many or other unexpected bills come up that they put priority too

waiting for payment isn't the biggest issue, i'd feel there is some rule-of-thumb which is a reasonable amount of time for a buyer to acknowledge that they know they have won, that they intend to make payment and outline the details. i would presume that to be common courtesy. as you say, Chris, 30 days is absurd, a period of 3-5 days seems reasonable to me for an initial contact considering everyone seems to be tied in everywhere they go nowadays with cell phones.

i'm always at a loss when a bidder snipes an auction that they have been following and then walks away for a period of time.

24 hours I contact them. Most pay with in a hour.

I usually wait five days before contacting them. So far as I know, bidders with private feedback can't be blocked.

The majority of my buyers pay within a day or two (I send invoices ASAP after a day's auctions are over). I usually don't bug the stragglers until about 2 weeks out, when I send a polite email simply to "confirm payment is on its way." Very rarely do I get actual contact from a buyer, be it an email after the sale, an email after the item arrives, or even a note with the payment.

My adds say they have 6 days to pay, after that I send them at least 3 emails, if they do not pay by 2 weeks they are a non-paying bidder to me.

Here's how we do it:
Initial invoice the day the auction ends. (90%+ of auctions paid after that initial invoice.)

Reminder invoice in 3-5 days depending on how close to the weekend the auction ended.
(8%-9% of auctions max-by this point, most of these either pay or notify that payment has been mailed)

Final reminder invoice at 10 days. If no response by day 14, NPB filed. (1% or less of auctions, knock wood)

Welcome to the barrel , all you need do now is "assume the position".Buyers can do as they like and they know it,ive seen this behaviour in well experienced ebayers too.

Everyday after day 10 that it does not get paid, exponentially increases the odds of a nonpayment.

The NPB process has been streamlined on eBay. You can now file a NPB claim after 4 days and close it out after 7 days. If the buyer does not respond within that time frame, he or she is blocked from leaving fb to the seller.
