2008 4 coin gold buffalo set in OGP

DNADaveDNADave Posts: 7,239 ✭✭✭✭✭
for $5500. would you pull the big trigger?

I listened here and bought a 2007 gold buffalo ouncer for $1000 and sold it the next day for $1100.

Also, I passed on a 1995W silver proof eagle for $2000 on their way up and wish I hadn't, so I think I'm going in w/ 5k cash next week and see if the seller will take it.

Yes, I seen a buy list yesterday from a dealer. Your price is his quote. He told me he would pay more to get one though. He thinks they will go up for a while to come.

for $5500. would you pull the big trigger?

$5,500 seems reasonable for a pristine set. Whether or not I'd pull the trigger would always depend on various circumstances such as:

How badly I wanted the set.

    My other alternatives for investment.

Whether or not I needed the money any time soon.

    etc.

Keep in mind that there are dealers out there buying these buff sets at 10% back of sheet. I know its rediculous.

The retail market is strong, the wholesale market doesnt show quite the same strength.

A dealer out of Texas who was at the St. Louis Show a week ago offered me $5,000 but then he indicated that he might go higher and proceeded to tell me that he had upped his offer the previous day to another guy by $500.

I think that greysheet bid is less than $5,000 but I don't subscribe to it anymore.

    What's that old saying?

You 'make your money on the BUY', not the Sell.

I wonder how many they are able to buy at those offers. I sure haven't had any luck buying these on the cheap. I just don't see that many in dealer inventory when I go to shows.
