We bought in a broader, thinner Englehard 100 today.
Any idea when those were made?

    Trapezoid if I'm not mistaken.

A trapezoid is strictly a 2 dimensional object.

    Truncated pyramid I think.
  • We bought in a broader, thinner Englehard 100 today.

The flatter Engelhard 100's were made in the late 50's to early 60's.

Some times they are a little "warped".

Not many around due to the great 1979/1980 metal run that got most of these melted.

Pyramids have equal sides and aren't elongated.

It is called a frustum. Specifically, a frustum of a square pyramid -- as one could also have a frustum of a cone, triangular pyramid, etc.

I have to wonder why it is that they would melt a bar. Isn't it already in the form they want it unless the melters had certain molds and they wanted to keep their bars uniform in shape and size.
