OK ....... Flew in to Orlando Wed. Attended the show from 10am till 6pm Thursday.... BIG SHOW
First .... This show was busy ALL DAY LONG ..... LOTS OF ACTIVITY!!
I am not claiming that I saw or enquired over every gram of metal on the floor ... but I tried.
If my estimates of quantity are off....wellllll ... like I said, it is a big show, and I am only there for 1 day.
Silver: For the size of the show....not really all that much. Due to the distance traveled by most of the dealers, and silvers weight, no suprise.
1 oz generic round were going from $19 to $22 each.... not many around.
10 oz bars were going from $190 to $230 each..... Maybe 100 on the entire floor...mostly 2nd tier brands.
100 oz bars were going from $1875 to $2000 each...Maybe 15 on the entire floor.
American Eagles were going for $20 to $23 each..... Not all that many around...Maybe a 1000 or so.
90% was being bought for 12x and sold at 13x ..... There was very little to be had.
Silver dollars were being bought at 15 and sold at 16.50.... and there were a lot of them to be had.
I did get ...
13 die struck Engelhard 10 oz bars ... $185 each.
5 JM die struck 10 oz bars ... $185 each.
250 1 oz Engelhard Prospectors in their 25 count tubes ... $18.55 each.
Gold: Bring a truck .... It was all over the place. Every thing from 1/10 th oz to Kilos to 100 oz Canadian bars.
Not very many Proof Eagles around. Some...but not many. Asking was $1600 each for Proof 1 oz Golds.
The 2009 1/10 oz Eagles are the hottest thing going. $140 to $145 each.
Most 1 oz bullion coins are going at $75 over. Some more...Some less.
Circ U.S. gold was in rolls and piles. Very close to spot on a lot of it.
Every one is trying to DUMP circ $20 libs. Dealers and the public alike. A lot of dealers were not even making offers to folks for them.
Had 1 dealer offer me as many as I wanted at spot +$10 just to get some cash. I passed.
Foriegn gold .... Roosters, Sovs, 20 Guilders....you name it....by the stack, roll, pile, bag.
Make an offer. A buddy had bought around 30 oz +/- at close to spot .... then stopped when he realized how much of it was to be had.
I did get...
1 JM 1 oz Gold bar in the green COA for $1150.
2 1/4 oz Engelhard w/ COA for $285 each.
And a 1, 2.5 and a 5 gram gold bar set for $280.
[Guess I just wasn't in a gold buying mood.]
Platinum & Palladium:
There was a bit on the floor.... mostly Pamp and Suisse Credit. All 1 oz. Maybe 100 oz in all.
Both Palladium & Platinum bar was $50-75 over spot.
I did see 1 oz and 2 1/2 oz Stillwater Palladiums in the COA.
I did see an Engelhard 10 oz. Palladium bar at 1 table. No COA. Asking $4600 .. I Passed.
I did get ...
5 1 oz Platinum Engelhard in the COA's .... $1525 each.
3 1 oz Palladium Engelhard in the COA's ... $450 each. [ I'm such a sucker for Pd right now.]
General impression of the first day of the show....
1] Lots of numismatic activity.... The 3 collector coins that I tried to buy .... priced WAY over what I was willing to pay.WOW.
2] Some bullion activity .... It seamed like both the dealers and the public alike were holding back a little bit on buying at these prices.
3] Lots of checks flying around but not very much cash.
4] Some bullion deals could be had if you made your offer quietly and pulled out cash to back it up. [Tip]
Thats it for me for now. My little feet have had enough.

It's interesting that buyers and sellers are shying away from numismatic (even low premium numismatic) gold.
I wonder if that's just a function of all of us (Americans) getting further away from the time when gold circulated, or if it's the desire for more internationally liquid products. Or maybe it's just cyclical.
When you think about it...there is almost nobody left alive who remembers gold circulating. A 10 year old in 1933 would be 87 today.

Edited to add: Great report!
Now that's working the show like ya should!
No ...... I did NOT see very many Pandas. I think that the Pandas are going to strong hands!!

Lets see..... A 1 oz Buff or Eagle at $75 over spot or a 100 year old XF Lib at $10 over?
I think it's a case of the " New and shiny over the old and dull" .... Sign of the "New-est " Generation.....Just my impression.
1 table had so many stacks of SHEETS of 1 oz. Buff's.......

Exactly what I was thinking. Man, if you can get XF or better classic for near melt, what's to lose?

I'd take the XF Lib at $10 over spot. What's that, around $560? Gold is gold. Were those $20 Libs at near spot damaged and polished coins? That would be my guess. I can't see nice original lustrous XF/AU $20's bringing $1100 right now. If so, please start shipping those to me. Let's give it a few weeks and see how this all shakes out. Like anything else, these coins move in cycles.
I'm used to seeing Heritage and others stop buying gold at FUN as the show makes it to Friday or Saturday. Not buying from day 1 is certainly new ground.

I have to confess .....
I am over 50 and wear glasses .... and I was never closer than 6 inches from any dealers case.
I guess some folks had a better view of the items being offered than I did.
My apologies....

I have a pretty cool 1 oz. Deak-Perera palladium bar struck by Engelhard. But I've never seen a bigger palladium bar struck by them.
Gold: 1 oz. Spot + $75
Platinum: 1 oz. Spot + $75 - $100
Palladium: 1 oz. Spot + $75 .... and there were not many around.
Silver: I did not see a single piece. If it was there, I missed it.
Hope this helps!!
