has anyone set 2010 goals.... Post goals

I was just wondering what others have set for goals for the next year.....sets,players, amounts?

I am setting my goals:
1) 1979 Burger King Phillies in PSA 8
2) two more Regular Mantles in PSA 5/6
3) clear inventory for space {a lot of 80-90's baseball in attic}

succesful deals :richtree, Bosox1976, Bkritz, mknez, SOM, cardcounter2, ddfamf, cougar701, mrG, Griffins : thanks All

    Good topic:

    1. Finish my Clemente Basic set, only 8 more
    2. Finish the other smaller sets on the registry
    3. Start a 1965 Topps Baseball set in PSA 6 or better

I'm not big on percentages, but my main goal for 2010 is to get to 50% of the 1951 Bowman Football HOFers in PSA 7. I'm currently at 25%.

After that, it's just to continue chipping away at the plethora of other sets I'm working on.

edited to add: It would also be really nice to reach 50% on my 1955 Red Man set in PSA 5...need just 6 cards to do that.

As trivial as it sounds, I want one of those PSA Award Certificates for one of my Ripken Sets. Either for the Basic Set, or the Basic Topps Set. I'm 40 cards away from having all 10s in my Basic Set (out of 176), and in my Basic Topps Set all I need is a 1985 and 1988 Topps in PSA 10. I know the 1985 and 1988 doesn't sound that difficult to accomplish, but it really is, especially the 1985. It's a Pop 7 out of 559 cards. If one of those ever appears on the bay, I bet it reaches over $500 easy.

Each upgrade to PSA 10 for my Basic Ripken Set has been costing me anywhere between $30 and $120 per card. This is so difficult, but it's very worth it to me.

The Set Registry is a hell-of-a drug... image

    1. I would really like to find an autographed 1960 Fleer Dick Chorovich card to finish off my Autographed Chargers team set collection.
    2. I would love to finish off one of my autographed AFL sets. Not sure that this is really possible, but I will list it anyway. Maybe the 1967 Topps set, where I am currently at 112/132 autographed.
    3. I would like to add 50-75 signed cards to my autographed AFL sets.
    4. Pick up interesting AFL Chargers items as I find them.
Todd Tobias - Grateful Collector - I focus on autographed American Football League sets, Fleer & Topps, 1960-1969, and lacrosse cards.

I got more into the set registry the last part of this year including the '52 set. I'm 13 short 1 thru 311 but only have 18 cards graded. I might send a few more cards down to PSA this next year compared to years past.

I'm not sure if I can, but I'd like to complete my 1962 Topps Basic Set Registry.

Wow. It's been a loooong time in the making. I started building it in 2004 with a MN Twins card (#584) in PSA 7. I overpaid for it but I just wanted to upgrade that card in my raw set. Little did I know what it would lead to as I discovered PSA and the Set Registry!

[Edited to add: I don't care if my wife does find out what I'm spending on cards. She spends way more on $%^ing buttons...]

LOL..........for me I take the "weekly allowance" cash my wife gives me from our joint account and save it up for a few weeks, then either deposit the cash in my "fun money football card" bank account that goes to my paypal or buy ebay gift certificates to use. I am supposed to be buying lunch and gas and incidentals with it.......I havn't bought lunch in years and I charge my gas to our joint debit account...and I "incidently" buy Bowmans with it. LOL... yes....my name is BigDaddy and I am a cardaholic! My wife isn't a dummy...she is an enabler! Luckily my cardboard sales helps the cause! I usually have her take the packages to the post office so she sees just how much money I bring in with sales image

Few things I want to add to the collection this year:

    Roy Campanella signed baseball
    Ted Williams signed jersey
    Eddie Collins autograph
    Babe Ruth signed check
    Lou Gehrig signed check

    Cards:

    T206's - Low condition

Figured I should start picking a few up here and there. Eventually pursue the full set of 52 Topps.

I'd like to get a nice 1973 topps baseball set together, then start on 1968 & 69.

I'd like to sell of a bunch of duplicate sets (1962 x3, 75, 76 x3, 77 x2, 78, 79) to fund the new ones - but I am limited with time all year (working on MBA) -- trades would be MUCH easier given my time crunch.

Good luck to everyone and best wishes for the new year.

#2 Need to actually start sending out my raw rookie cards for TTM's.

#5 Build some type of display case for my collection

Other sports related goal for 2010

    (1) -- Finish my son Mark's 1983 Topps baseball set ( 18 cards to go) .

    (2) -- Get to 90 % or better , for my son Joseph's 1984 Topps baseball set ( need 66 cards to hit that goal ).

    (3) -- get to 10 % for each of our other sons baseball sets. ( 1966, 1968 and 1970)

    (4) -- I'd like to better all the other sets I collect, but that will happen as it occurs.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    (5) -- The Nationals and luncheon is here in Baltimore this year . One of my sets have a very slim chance of achieving something no other set collector has ever achieved . If the stars come together , this may occur.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course if the present internal distruction of our economy is allowed to march on ,all of our collecting goals will be foolish. Lets hope something great occurs , to stop the madness.

Honestly, I've lost alot of motivation in terms of collecting goals. I think there's too many changes in sports. Baseball, and hockey I dont watch anymore. Football I keep up with a little. The NBA is becoming a turn off (i.e. Laker fans throwing those foam hands on the court the othernight).

    Still have some goals..

-80/81 OPC hockey box would be great. 79/80 OPC as well, but that'll be a long ways away.

-A few other 80's OPC hockey boxes.

-92/93 Fleer cello box (with total d inserts). Haven't seen one of those in a long time.

-Some early 90's basketball subsets, 92/93 Beam Team, Magic's All Rookies, 93/94 Mr June and maybe some Topps Finest refractors (93/94).

-Another collecting goals is nintendo (nes) games from the 80's, early 90's. Esp sealed games. And maybe graded, VGA grades games.
