Pawn Stars-----Lou Gehrig Signed Jersey????

Have any of you guys watched this show on History Channel? Pretty cool show and a lot of connection with cards. One guy brought in a Joe D. signed ball I believe but also there are some connections with this hobby in terms of negotiation, authentication, value of antiques, etc. which is why I am bringing it up here. It's on right now and would highly recommend it for any collector

I'm intrigued by the sounds of this show, though. I've never seen it but will be on the lookout for it now.
Thanks for the tip!
<< <i>I love the show! I just happen to be watching it right now....its the one with the treasure chest.
I missed the ending of the chest show...
Did they get it open?

<< <i>I love that show. A few weeks ago some guy brought in an authentic Shelby aluminum body. The guy that brought it in cleaned out a warehouse for somebody and the body was there. They never paid him for the cleanout service so he got to keep the body. The body alone was valued at $60,000!
I think they settled on $30,000 for it. >>
Hah...that's the one episode I've seen!
I'm gonna advertise that I will buy or loan money on ANYTHING of value like jewelry, gold, antiques, tools, BASEBALL and SPORTS CARDS, cars, etc....
It will also be in housed in the same building complex as my car dealership so it may turn out to be a nice proposition to help people raise down payment money by unloading their unwanted items.

Yeah, they got it open. The keyhole was hidden on the top and quite a bit of strength was needed to turn the key. It was empty.

Very good assessment.
Thanks to DrLou for pointing this show out. I've been watching tonight for the first time, and I really like it.

haha... I was about to make the exact same comment.
Love the show. Tivo it every week
<< <i>Lots of good reads about the show here. Apparently the Coke machine was a different one than they originally purchased.

God some people are so uptight. It's entertainment...and I love it. WHat don't people understand about the market? If an item is appraised at 10,000...they CAN'T offer 10,000....its a business. If they make an offer, and the person is willing to accept it..then so be it....that is the open market in action. I read all of these people complaining on that forum..and I am in disbelief. It would be different if a person walks in with a 52 Mantle PSA 7 and they get an expert to appraise it at $3,000.....but if the appraiser gives an accurate appraisal, and then they offer 20%..the person can accept or walk away. Free will.
I love the show!

"Trained in the pawn business from the age of 13, Rick was born a hustler. He dropped out of high school to pursue his $2,000-a-week business of selling fake Gucci bags.
He joined his father at the age of 23 in the Pawn shop world."
Also, it is neat to see that not every item gets pawned, so it shows when the price isn't right.
Funniest thing is, Chum Lee seems the least scripted person on there, which to me is hilarious at times

No one has mentioned The Old Man yet, but
I think he's a hoot!! He is definately the
tightest one with a buck though. If I wanted
to sell something to them, I would want Rick
to do the buying.
Cool show, and unlike much of what the
History Channel produces, it actually has
something to do with history, and not UFO's,
or the Bermuda Triangle, or Sasquatch, or
lumberjacks, or ice road truckers, or etc., etc., etc.

I'm HOOKED!
Very little in the way of sports stuff that I saw. There was a stack of toploaders on a shelf behind a display case and some championship rings: Patriots SB ring, Montreal Grey Cup ring, Tennessee Vols championship ring, a couple of Texas Longhorns rings, maybe a Reds World Series ring, couple others.
If you're a fan of the show and are in Vegas on the bus up to Fremont Street from the Strip, definitely stop by. Between the stop and the pawn shop you walk by where Bon Jovi got married which should be historic in that it's an iconic musician who has stayed married for more than 6 months.
Someone earlier said Chumlee seems like the least scripted person on the show. I've read a couple things that would suggest the exact opposite. He is supposedly very smart and knows his stuff about a lot of different genres of collectibles and antiques.
Thanks for the new show to watch, saw first one today,
have 5 more tivo'ed.Great so far.

<< <i>I went to their pawn shop last month. It's smaller than I thought it would be. It was a Sunday afternoon and The Old Man and Corey were in there. Corey was writing up some paperwork and Old Man was in the same chair he's always in. The shop was smaller than I thought it would be. Prices seemed Ok. There was a ring my wife liked, but I looked on eBay in hopes of getting it for her for Christmas (kind of an aztec looking blue topaz that you don't see everyday) and they had like 5 items on eBay, so I might call them b/t now and her b-day in Feb.

I went to miami-ink when it first came out, same thing about the size, very small.
They had you do a pre interview to see if you could be on the show, you really needed
a sad story to make the show, got to meet kat,so it was well worth it

<< <i>Raise your hand if you think the scene where Chumlee dropped the ball and chain through the case wasn't staged. >>
I watched that show - Years ago I worked in a camera shop with glass counters like that, and we sold a number of heavy items - enlargers, some heavy cameras, projectors, etc, etc - and you just "knew" to be careful laying something on the glass, and what not to lay on the glass...hard to believe this experienced guy would "accidentally" do that with a 30lb leg iron, just toss it on the glass like that.

And, others too.
Like the potty chair falling out of the back of the truck.
Everything is so obviously "hollywood/staged"

I agree. This was our favorite show until we saw that. Hopefully that part fades away. I love learning about the various items. The "Ball & Chain" episode came across as fake to us and that's the reason we stopped watching Operation Repo. Staged and I dont care for the family drama.
