Last night I saw an episode with a Dodgers #20 uniform on the wall behind one of the counters. I'm guessing it's a Don Sutton, and from the small amount of time it was in the background, it may have been autographed.
Let me preface by saying that I like the show and watch it every week (Tivo set on Season Pass) but does it strike anyone that it's not quite "reality?" There seems to be a lot of (bad) acting involved. It seems as if it has gotten progressively more scripted. Am I just imagining it?

All (and I mean A-L-L) reality TV is scripted. Survivor, Biggest Loser, Jersey Bore, Bachelor, American Idol, ALL of these shows are scripted. This shouldn't be a shocker.
New Pawn Stars coming up in a few minutes--(just mentioning it b/c someone PMed saying they were glad I bumped the last thread) My bad its----APickers right now and then Porn Stores

porn stores? I do n ot think I want to see that show.
I think Rick said a few episodes ago that Big Hoss tips the scales at 330.
If that is true, Rexvos must be Andre the Giant-like.

Holy crap!! Did anyone notice in the second episode tonight (the pocket-sized sundial episode) that when they came back from one of the commercials they zoomed in on a multi-sig PSA/DNA baseball? You can actually make out the cert number "I96838" which is a ball signed by the following:
Item: BASEBALL
Primary Signer: BABE RUTH
Other Signers: GARRY LYLE DANNY MACFAYDEN DON BRENNAN LOU GEHRIG RUSS VAN ATTA RED RUFFING JOHNNY ALLEN WALTER BROWN EARLE COMBS FRANK CROSETTI ART JORGENS CY PERKINS TONY LAZZERI BEN CHAPMAN BILL DICKEY JOE SEWELL DIXIE WALKER CY MOORE HERB PENNOCK SAM BYRD LEFTY GOMEZ
Stitching: Red/Blue Model: American League Make: Reach Commissioner: William Harridge Country of Origin: USA Result/Grade: Authentic
This is one my favorite shows on TV...terrific variety of collectibles featured every week.
P.S. Anyone notice the shameless Subway plug tonight, LOL?

I've watched it since day one and agree with you.
Trying to climb the 1954-55 Topps Hockey ladder for the second time.
The purchase process was very different than normal. Normally they would call in an expert, and in this case they brought in pop who brought in real help before for the same sort of thing. He commented about "how great" the LOA's were, and relied on them for his okay to purchase, and then left the purchase up to the son. I think the sequence of events took place for a reason and this might get the ball rolling for the right people to get involved.
<< <i>I thought it looked fake. Then I saw that one of the letters was from STAT and I KNEW it was fake. >>
I'm with you. I paused it when they showed a close up. Even explained to my wife why I was pretty sure it was a fake. Then I saw the carp COA's and knew for sure it was a fake.
Looking at other items for sale on his web site and seeing the links to his favored authenticators, I would think a certain Pennsylvania auction house was opening a Las Vegas chapter.
Lot 2420 from the Halper auction was for a Gehrig signed presentation jersey and it claimed to be the only signed jersey of any kind in existence. It sold for $123,500, so it would be perfectly reasonable to assume that a memorabilia dealer would let #2 go for $3000.
That's what I was thinking... for a guy who is obviously in the business of sports memorabilia, surely he would have alternate avenues of selling something like this. AND to let it go for $3000? Give me a break... Pawn Stars missed the boat on this one.
It also seems to me that Pawn Stars is hurting the industry by giving a good word on those authentication companies. I personally don't know anything about those companies but from the sounds of this thread... it aint good.

I just saw the Gehrig jersey show, and can't believe it. With certificates from STAT and Chris Morales, and the seller's comment that he contacted an auction house in Pennsylvania, I think we can all figure out where the jersey came from!

I tried not to look too fat in that picture, did not do a good job of it.
Most of the sports stuff they have in there is over priced junk, btw. Lots of crappy jewelry and coins.
