    Silver & Gold
Silver and gold, silver and gold
Ev'ryone wishes for silver and gold
How do you measure it's worth?
Just by the pleasure it gives here on earth.

Silver and gold, silver and gold
Mean so much more when I see
    Silver and gold decorations
    On ev'ry Christmas tree.

  • A few newps for me. The palladium pandas were minted in 1989 with a very scant emission of just 3,000 total pieces. They are the subject of a previous thread that involved myself and CaptHenway from Harlan J. Berk. A fantastic place to do business, and well worth a stop if any of you make it into Chicago!

For some reason I'm drawn to the detail on the leaves on those Pd ones, gecko. % or multiple of melt on those for the premium?

Gecko do you see pandas of any sort, gold, silver, pd, etc more popular with americans than Chinese people? My parents are here visiting and we talked about precious metals...............pandas came up and they snubbed it. They could care less for pandas and don't want any even though pandas are easy to get in their country. Thats like an American snubbing GAEs and saying they are crap. What do you think about this?
It almost seems like pandas have a bad reputation!

PS. I've talked to many chinese as well and nearly everyone of them didn't even like pandas or care for them either! Nearly everyone said, "be careful of fakes".

From 1982 up until a few years ago, all gold pandas were exported from China because its citizens were not allowed to own gold bullion. That law has been repealed, and Im seeing more and more Chinese people are becoming interested in pandas now. Are there more collectors of pandas in America than China? Right now there are, but I try to think with foresight. What will the case be in 10 years? 20 years? The fact is that the highest mintages on pandas are still lower than the lowest mintages on most other world bullion coins. And the low mintages on the panda series....well, those are just downright RARE! It also helps that the design changes each year which keeps collectors interested in maintaining their collections. They truly are the most "collectable" of any of the world's gold bullion coins.
