Just received this one back earlier today. Trick or Treat?

I'll have the full slab a bit later on in the day. . .

    a "Gordita" 68

    it's real purdy

i like "sunset rust" on the reverse fanning out to blue and aqua and bronze on the reverse
the obverse is struck well, with a nice green and orange/red compliment

    I grade it $20.

Not a fan of big $ for bullion, but I know it helps some to pay the bills

Not this one. I knew what it was when I purchased it raw (from a board member here). But I like it and sent it in with a bunch of classic copper. I won't be selling it though- it'll reside nicely next to my 1998. image

(Slab photo coming up later, not that there's probably much of a surprise there.)

    Just a question.

If this coin hasn't been give a genuine grade, how can a coin only 4-5 years old naturally tone like that?

When posting a coin like that, the method the doctor used should be posted along with it... so all the toning bugs here can colorize their coins as well.... image Cheers, RickO

The coin is, of course, AT . The coin has not had time to tone , unless it was improperly stored,
with sole intention of speeding up the tarnish process , such as the ol' Taco Bell napkin on a hot,
wooden window sill in the attick , or some other method. Any coin that new, stored in any reasonable manor,
would not look like that .
As long as fools pay a premium for this, people will continue to AT .
It's a sad twist in this hobby .

    It graded.......... Genuine!

Unless it came from the Shenzhen or Shanghai mint, but in that case it probably would not have slabbed.

Over here in the UK many collectors still use wooden coin cabinets and I can safely say you don't get toning like that in a hand full of years by storing coin in normal conditions. Granted if you throw a stink bomb into the cabinet or a few rotten eggs you may get that kind of toning.

Yes every silver coin can and will tone over time but to see that much of a change over a short period of time is not normal.

how could it not be genuine when you have people sending in coins from mint sets that are getting genuine but this one gets a grade..............
