Is anyone familiar with these?

Not being familiar with foreign gold made me hesitant but I picked it up anyway at 1k per oz. The weights are correct so I think they're ok.

  • Those are the ones I was most concerned about; the spots on them.

I have the Singapore Tiger coins in the half ounce size. These are the Chinese Calendar and had a very low mintage mine was around 13,500.

  • What bothers me are the spots on the 1/2 and 1/4 oz. If their .999 where would those come from?

.999 gold normally does not tone ... did you buy them from a "China Man?" I would be worried to. Unscrew the holder & weigh each coin to make sure.

  • Weighed each one including the Singold; everything is dead on.

I wonder if someone could use a wrong type of acid for testing? If so they certainly got a reaction with it.

Weg...That is not toning, it is haze. Yes proof gold can haze. Dip them in jewel luster, rinse well and very carefully dry off throughly. Then post the the new and improved coins.image

I've never heard of fake helvetias, you may not have to worry.

  • The spots I was concerned with are on the 1/2oz near center of Matterhorn and 9:00 from center of Matterhorn on the 1/4oz.
All though the weights are dead on the spots still bothered me so I dipped them for 15 seconds in around 30-35% solution of eZest which had no effect on the spots. Next tried a 50% solution for 30 seconds which helped a little, but they still stand out. I'll make some better scans and focus on the spots.
Their a bit of a mystery.
