Yes I've seen them go multiples of melt value. I had another sentence in there I must have erased which was: The only way I'd purchase a nugget is if it had a COA like this. Reason being I know nothing about them.
Cool concept, but not crazy about their "estimates". Especially the estimate on how many are left unearthed. How could that POSSIBLY be anywhere close to being accurate???
nuggets might be cool to have to show friends, family, etc but not for investing or bullion wise. Reason is you don't know how much gold is in the nugget. Heck I can have a 3 oz nugget and 2 oz of it might be quartz and one oz of it is covering it making me think I have a solid nugget.

A very simple specific gravity test can easily differentiate between a 3 oz specimen of 66% quartz, and a 3 oz specimen of solid gold.
Its the purity part that makes nuggets a very non-standardized form of bullion. Even if you have a solid 3 oz nugget, is that 3 ozs of 22kt....20kt...18kt?
