1994-95 basketball refractor question

If a refractor is graded WITHOUT the "coating", is it less valuable than a comparable card thats raw but WITH the "coating"? Or is there a significant discount on the peeled card even though its graded?

For most buyers they want the peel on the card. I don't know how PSA can accurately grade the surface of a card that has a peel, but they do.

A w/coating card will command a premium over a peeled card.

Probably the worst gimmick in trading card history. "Hey, I got an idea- let's make the card really ugly by putting a piece of plastic film over it that the collector can remove, only nobody will remove it for fear of the card losing value so the card will remain ugly."

I have found no difference in pricing for cards, one with and one without the peel, with identical PSA grades.

When selling raw there may be a negligible premium for cards with the peel.

The peels are somewhat useful in keeping the surfaces from getting scratched or smudged.

So as a collector I like the raw cards with peels better because they have a higher chance of being in mint condition, when I remove the peel.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have my eye on a beautiful 94-95 Jordan refractor in a PSA 9. But its been peeled and I dont want to pay top dollar for a peeled card if the unpeeled card is what others will want when its time to resell the card when im done with it.

Completely agree. I haven't seen any clear differentiation in price between the two versions in PSA slabs.
