Check out one of the coins I recently had mgoodm3 photo for me. For those who are thinking about getting some photos done, it's pretty tough to find a better photographer anywhere. I really like the super close ups he did, just amazing

I think the price will vary depending on condition and die state. I bought this one in an old white ANACS holder 64RD for about ~$250. PCGS graded it 65RB and it is currently a pop 1/0 in RB.
Coppercoins.com has an example of a mid die state and CONECA shows listings for EDS and MDS which probably indicates they might not be that rare. I'm not sure where to find the average lifespan of a die in 1980. I can tell you that I looked for a few years to find this one and it was the first one I ever saw, besides the occasional example on Ebay.
Thanks for all the replies. And of course to mgoodm3 for the photos

.......very coin and pics, for sure. the guy that spotted that initially must have had some super efficient peepers! seems like that would be hard to spot with a glance.
<< <i>Average life span of a die from that year was 750,000 coins...but you cannot divide that in half for mid-die state. The die states deteriorated very quickly at first, then went more slowly as they progress:
VEDS - up to 1,500 strikes.
EDS - 1,500-5,000 strikes.
MDS - 5,000-50,000 strikes.
LDS - 50,000-250,000 strikes.
VLDS - all the rest. >>
I'd have guessed slightly more cents on average in 1980 but will
defer to your numbers and expertise.
People should realize that dies wear and different rates dependent
on many different factors and these should be considered to be akin
to averages.
There is a die state which many coins exhibit before VEDS. While
not every die will strike any coins exhibiting this die state most
will churn out 10 to 30 coins where the minor flaws of the new die
can be discerned.
Maybe a New Die State.
