Are you saying Bill will have a NEW avatar with a NEW friend? LMAO
Good Luck guys ... seems like it is going to be a lot of fun. Best of luck to you guys.
Bill ... your wife THINKS it's free ... wait until she finds out you spent $15,000.00 in grading fees on 1980s Stuff! LMAO
Guys ... have fun ... drink a LOT of beer (but NOT while driving) ... BE SAFE ... and make sure you video ALL the action!

Yeah I saw that 1st thing. 2 wax and a set. Seeing '89 F boxes in a collection always appears more promising. As opposed to the whole bust a box to find a Black Box and sell the rest on ebay as "Possible rare FF versions".
I read Bills going. He'll bust 'em. GL Report what versions you find.
If I wasn't in CA, I'd be there. Looks like fun.
I see a Bowman post 1999 looking sticker on what could be a hand collated set. Maybe a nice Pujols or Reyes in there.
That will be quite a trip. If I wasn't in California... actually I don't want to have to go through all those cards but would be fun for a few hours just to see what you could find. Seeing that quanity of cards basically given away gives added perspective on how little our modern cards will be worth in the future. Dang it.
We are leaving at 5AM tomorrow if Curt will tell us where we are going. Uhaul has been reserved and the wives have already started divorce proceedings.
Well, should the guys get arrested for DUI, I'll go ahead and make a reservation I'm down here in Kansas City so it's nothing more than going down the street for me. Maybe I can help you guys load it, I see a few things I'd like to add to my collection.
<< <i>You would have to get tired of looking through all of that. >>
If the sets actually contain what they say on the box, half the sorting is eliminated. Could be nothing but junk, but worth the trouble to find out. Plus, half the fun is digging to see what you can find.
<< <i>I'll give $2000 for all of it, but you guys have to drive the U-Haul to North Georgia and unload it in my basement. >>

That is gonna be one heavy load, U-haul or not. I remember moving all of my collection in my Suburban, and that was a workout! It was only about 200K cards. Careful heading home!
For some reason, it sort of saddened me that these cards would be so under-appreciated as to be "given away." I realize that bbcemporium's concern was probably more about space and moving that large horde..... and he obviously got one hell of a deal and is more interested in vintage. But the fact that corvette has stepped up and offered $2k has rejuvenated my spirit. I'm not sure if his offer is for real, but I hope it is. Maybe its just the collector in me, but if I was under the right conditions...ie retired, with a ton of time on my hands, this would be my dream purchase as sad as that may be. But to go through that stuff would just be a blast. Sure there's gonna be a ton of 88 donruss and what not but there's gotta be some regional stuff, some promotional stuff, who knows what. I've recently taken an interest in "broder" cards because I think its an interesting chapter in this hobby (a time when it was profitable to print unlicensed cards) and I'm betting there is a ton of them in there. I can't wait to see what you guys find in there.
cool. If I were in Columbia right now instead of Springfield, I'd come up and check em out with you fellas. If you're coming back through spfd on the way out, i'll take some basketball stuff. John

Aric, You are right. When I saw that room full of cards, two things came to mind
1. A lot of work 2. A lot of work
Did I think I could've made money from those cards? Yes, but would've I enjoyed it? No. Putting all monetary reasons aside, had all those cards been from the years of '52-'69, you could lock me in the room for 3 months and I wouldn't get bored. However, when your hobby becomes work, it quickly quits being a hobby. With that being said, I know Bill will probably enjoy the endless hours involved with this collection, and that alone brings me satisfaction.
I just hope with the long trip they are making from Louisiana, they won't be disappointed.

<< <i>Wouldn't that be funny if the seller had a T206 Wagner stashed in with the modern stuff? >>
If by chance something miraculous like that were to happen, I have already told Curt he will be fairly compensated.
As far as permission from the wives, I thought my wife would be the one that killed me. Her only response was, "When are you leaving?".
P.S. Are the Cardinals at home tomorrow?
There might be one or two Gary Carter's in there... one or two thousand.
