Didn't know AGE's could tone

Just checked my $5 AGE's that have been in my safe for years and half of them have some kind of toning from a burnt orange to a purplish hue or both. All are PCGS MS69's.

Must be the trace of copper in the alloy.
I mean, yeah, they're .999 gold, but they're alloyed with copper, right? Couldn't be pure 24K gold, or you could bend 'em.
The AGE I like the most is one that I've had for over 20 years - the toning isn't that noticeable, but it's become much richer looking as time goes by. I don't know if the pic conveys it, but I like it more all the time! It's now in a PCGS MS-69 holder.
I knew it would happen.
<< <i>Sounds kinda nice, actually.

AGE's are 22K and are alloyed with copper. The Gold Buffalos are 999 fine.

For the AGE's I'd say a combination of surface contaminants and improper mixture which brings the copper to the surface.
<< <i>I've noticed much more AGE toning in PCGS slabs versus NGC slabs. Plastic composition possibly? >>
More likely the paper insert or the ink on the insert if at all.
Love those toned AGE!!
