Is this one of those Chinese counterfeit 1909-S Lincolns?

1909-S Lincoln WHEAT Cent Penny Money Back Guarentee

The numerals in the date and the MM look extremely thick compared to the rest of the coin. It looks totally bogus to me.

Yes, it's the poorly made fake with a funny date.

I dunno if it's of Chinese origin or not, but it's phonier than my Harvard MBA degree and my Nobel prize, that's fer sure.

And up to 53 bucks, as of this posting. Sheesh, the bidiots never cease to amaze me. image

One thing I'll say for eBay's sometimes-annoying new formats is that at least now they have a "report item" link right in the auction, so you don't have to go searching for it buried miles down in the site map somewhere.

Figured I'd send the guy a courtesy heads-up, too (as tactfully as possible).

<< <i>I'm sorry, but your coin is a blatant and obvious counterfeit. The date numerals are too thick and totally wrong, as is the lettering on the reverse and the strike in general. I have reported it to eBay but wanted you to know that it was nothing personal, in case you really didn't know it was a fake. I am not the only one who noticed it as it was brought to my attention by other numismatists, who probably reported it as well. If you're an honest person you'll just take the auction down and maybe this will save you the hassle of honoring your money back guarantee later. >>

Odd that the fakers didn't put the VDB on the reverse. Hmm. That made me second-guess myself, for about a half a second. Could it be a weird looking 1909-S?

Nope. No way. Those fat numerals and the rest of it reek. For starters, there is a serif at the top of the "1" in the date, and it is not a sans-serif "I" like the 1 should be. You could go on and on and on.

Probably because the fake factory makes all the key and semi keys.
    They need several "products".

It has wide details, the 1 has a flag on top and the first 9 is bigger than the last 9. I remember seeing the same ones on ebay as replicas.

Other than the date and mint mark being butchered, the rest of it doesn't look too bad. I'd pay melt for it.

I don't know if it came from China, but it is bogus. I'm guessing it probably did.

I wrote the seller and asked him to take it to his coin dealer there in Junction.
He did and now has revoved the auction or will cancel the sale if he can't
kill it. Seemed like he really got screwed and didn't know it.
