What a way to ruin a holiday weekend. Get a list to show organizers of upcoming shows in the area to see if they can help distribute it to dealers in attendance.
Over the years, a few people I know have been burglarized (coins, prized possessions, etc). Aside from the monetary loss, it can have a profound negative effect on the mind. I wish you luck in all aspects of getting this resolved.
Liars and cheats are a dime a dozen and easy to grade. You know when you've been around one because you're either missing something or confused about something.
Best of luck finding them all safe. The roll of IHC will certainly be an easy one to remember. It does seem it was someone who had heard of, or suspected you would be out of town. I certainly have a few young relatives I would not want to know when I was out of town, sadly to say.
Seems with these hard times upon us you can't have anything nice, also, someone else covets your possessions for crack or meth, even in rural areas now days.
I hope you recover your cherished possessions and the person who committed this crime is punished.

I will second this. With the best of intentions, law enforcement can still be overwhelmed at times trying to follow up on every case. I have had 2 homes broken into (in 2 different cities). I hope you recover all of your property and hope that whoever did this is caught.

Good luck. Unless you have video cameras that caught them in the act they probably will not be caught. The slabbed stuff is probably already broken out and sold raw. I do remember a dumb crook that broke out $20 gold pieces and started spending them. Apparently he thought they were like the president series and had no gold. He was caught.
My home was burglarized about three years ago. They took all the TVs, computers and jewelry. I had a few coins right beside one of the computers that was taken, but the coins were left. Mostly they were modern stuff that were not worth much. Only coin that was worth much that was there was a PCGS 1900-s morgan dollar in MS64. Anyway, I filed a $22,000 claim with my insurance and received $16,000. Half of that was just for stuff they broke. They only covered $1000 on the jewelry since I did not have extra insurance on that. The only thing they took of any real importance was my mothers wedding ring. Not really worth much to anybody but me. Nobody was ever caught.
I would not put ANY FAITH in the police finding your stuff. For the most part they are idiots and clueless. Most of the time they can not even fill out a traffic ticket correctly.
Last year my quads got ripped out of my garage and the police basicly said they would not look for them. I got 6 people to look for them the minute the police drove off. We actually found them 6 miles away with in hours. The cops came out to the location we found them in and did not care to investigate, finger print , nothing. We loaded them up and took them back home. Most police departments do not have any man power to look for stuff. Your best hope is that the crooks are stupid and do something dumb with the goods.
Good luck, i hope you have decent insurance.

When I lost part of my Honduras collection several years ago, it was taken by somebody who had been in the house before and went right to the desk in my study. Nothing else was taken. Nothing was ransacked.
About six months earlier we had had new windows put in. Then a painter came in. One of them dd it, I am sure, but what can you do?

Hi guy's. Thanks for all the nice thoughts and idea's. I have been driving all day to get back and I just got internet access. Could someone do me a favor and alert the Rockford dealers- Like Rockford coin and also the Madison dealers? I have to get back to the police right now.
Wow just read this thread. I am very sorry for your loss and hope the criminals will get caught and the items returned. Btw did you have a home alarm system?
No alarm. This happened during the day with-in a two hour time period. A family member was at the house and two hours after he left got a call something happened. The good thing is no one got hurt.
Like you said good thing no one was hurt. But something seems fishy to me. If it was done during the day, you would fiqure someone had to be staking out your house.
I think most robberies are during the day as they know decent folk have to work for a living. This kinda thing just burns me up, sorry for your loss hopefully it will come to a good conclusion.
Darktone....I called Rockford coin, but apparently they are closed with no message service...(!) I'm in Cali @5pm so I'm assuming that no one will be open in that area especially with the 4th happening. I will try other numbers if you like.....but like I said.....holiday = no answer. I'd definitely try to call them at the crack of chickens tomorrow morning if I were you. Usually theives will dump their loot quickly unless their smarter than the average ding dong. Let me know if I can help....message here or KKalifornia@sbcglobal.net

Don't know how many were open today but you should be good til Monday. I also think our county requires forms to be filed whenever selling anything ???

The Madison stores were closed today and are closed on Sunday. I can call John & Jerry (Collectors Choice & Capitol City Coin/Jewlery) on Monday for you though if you'd like. Please PM me some sort of rough list to give them so I can be as specific as possible.
Years ago my son told a few people at school that his parents were going to Hawaii and leaving him at his grand parents house. The dumb 8 grade kids stole his i pod, shoes and various other items of little value. While they were in the house ( 4 of them) they surfed on the internet in his room and drank the alky in the house. It took the police about 45 minutes to figure out who the crooks/vandals were. They left a trail a mile long from checking there emails and some of them even called there parents from our house. A year after this happened we started getting checks in the mail from the criminals for restitution. The police and DA would not give us the names of the 4 kids that did this. I live in a small town and it did not take long to figure it out. 2 of the kids went on to graduate college and 2 are headed to the state prison as i type this.
Had the little crooks not been so stupid, i doubt the cops would hAVe been able to solve it. The local pharmacy has been hit 3 times over the last 6 months with zero arrest. I can list 20 out of 22 UNSOLVED crimes in my area over the last few years and i live in a low crime area.

Hey guy's. Thanks for the calls to the shops. I have about a 400 mile drive yet to get home this morning and I have so much to do when I get back. Yep- safe cracked. I don't want to get into any specifics yet as I really don't know. I won't be able to get certification #'s and pics until I get back home and get a handle on things. mike

Just a hunch but I'd wager someone knew -
& that this was no random burglary!
I hope for & wish you all the best.

the more time lapses, the less likely it is that your goods will be recovered. Harsh Reality.
The mchdse will be scattered in all directions and a considerable distance away.
If this happens, odds of recovery and arrest(s) grow worse. Think about it.
Sorry to hear this Mike, I hope it works out, as already mentioned it sounds as if it could be someone known to you....
Hopefully these people get whats coming and karma makes it right.

You're more likely to solve this than the Police.
Your instincts will more than likely prove to be true.
