struck mintages with Morgan Dollars are really irrelevant. so many were hoarded in vaults, melted according to the Pittman Act around 1920 and at various other times that it's virtually impossible to know how many of a particular date were ever really made available to the general public, let alone collectors of the 21st Century. the best we can do is use survivor estimates coupled with government mintage figures and personal experience to know which dates are scarce and which dates are scarce in what grades. i know what dates are common, it's the uncommon ones that are tough to estimate, but 1885-CC is a date we don't see very often in any grade.

It's a great coin to have in any collection. The higher the grade and fewer problems, the better.
That's my opinion on this fabulous piece of numismatic history. GSA holdered are cool.

i think ya, its a lower minted date/mm morgan but was mostly know to be a low mintage
so heavily collected by the masses.what would be difficult to find is a good well-worn `85 cc
maybe a fine to very fine? i think most are au and ms.

Low initial mintage but has a higher pop of DMPL than an 81-s. High surviving population, not a coin I really like.

Out of the 228,000 original total mintage, something like 192,000 turned up in the GSA sale. Mint State coins are just about all you ever see, but low-grade circulated coins are rare.

Maybe they are offering a whole roll for sale.....ummm...yeah, and I'm waiting on my bailout deposit to clear from Uncle Sam.

Sort of makes me think though if no one responds...like at all...except for say a moderator to his countless trivial posts maybe they will catch a hint and lurk over to the NGC forums.

i am not a major collector but i would say in the 1890's to 1899's but i am not looking at mintage i am looking at what people or the market is paying

yes 85-cc's will get 600-760 in grade 4-64 wich i think the lower grades are way over rated me my self would not pay that much but to each there owne
i like 78-cc's and 81-cc's

Thank you & yep, it's mine. It should be a 65 but its in an old 64 holder...

No marks on the cheek at all. Just slight contact marks on the forehead/eyebrow region...
