Photos & Video of Apmex Silver Kilo

The Apmex Kilogram stacker I bought arrived today. This is the largest silver bar I've ever had. The weight is impressive, that many ounces in one unit in hand is pretty darn neat. The bar is a bit thinner than I had imagined but overal it's pretty big. I kind of imagined a 10oz bar that was three times as thick but this one is much bigger than a 10oz bar. The stamp on the back says the bar is made by Academy so I guess Apmex contracted Academy to make the 10oz, Kilo & 100oz stackers for them. I'm very pleased with it, now I've got to get another to utilize the stacking capability LOL.

Click here to see the YouTube video I made of the bar -----> Link to YouTube video.

Here are some pics of it along with twenty 1oz Ohio Precious Metals silver bars that also arrived today for size reference...

Sweet! I am still waiting for my spring 99c sale order to show up. Is that bar milled?

I believe so, it's got tool markings on the underside and on the beveled edge. My guess is they make a bar with no beveled edge and no bottom cavity then mill out the unwanted material.

What's the "ISD?" Number on the back mean? Is that a serial number?

Could this bar be struck by a die and the tool marks are on the die? If several bars have the same exact tool marks, I believe this would be the case.

Very nice looking bar. Anyone know if Academy makes their own brand kilo bar?

Congrats on your first kilo bar; I like that size, since it's a metric base unit and neat size. I do believe you'll find yourself looking to go "stacking"... LOL

You might also try getting some kilo coins; they are cool too.
