  • Very happy, and feeling a little lucky. Need more production out of the lead-off spot. Good to see the bullpen close it out. Come on Schmidt give us 6 strong innings!(Please!)

Jason Schmidt started off very rusty in the first inning giving up 3 runs then went 5 innings to get his first win since early 2007. He was wild and needs to really be spot on with his pitches to be effective as he's only got 84 to 85 mph fast balls. Hopefully he can give the Dodgers some more innings in the future.

Congrats to Manny on passing the Mick last night with #537! I know people hate him but he's a great hitter.

Now the Dodgers are up 8 games over the Rockies and 8 1/2 over the Giants.

Another walk off hit / win for the Dodgers last night. This time it was Casey Blake doing it....Now the Dodgers are 9 games ahead of the hot Rockies and Broxton is 7 and 0.

Very interested to see if the Dodgers pull the trigger and get some middle relief help for the stretch.

  • Schmidt is going today, lets see if he can get 2 in a row! 13 hits last night should have been more runs. Cardinals offense might be a factor down the stretch, If the Boys in Blue start putting up runs on the score board they will be real tough to beat!
  • Rough couple of days, Lots of hits but no runs! Looks like we need another starter if we want to make a good run in the playoffs. (as long as we dont melt down in Aug!)

  • 13 hits 7 walks and only 2 runs. Seems to be the way the last 2 weeks have gone. Need to get a road map to show the boys where homeplate is!

That was an awesome game last night, and I would have said the same thing if the Cardinals would have lost.

    Shane

  • 2 out of three in Atlanta, Billingsley looked sharp, we are hitting the #@#$% out of the ball if we can start putting the runs on the board all things will be fine! Even Schmidt got a pinch hit, and did you see him run those bases!
  • What the! 17 runs maybe the boys are waking up!

    What a waste for Kershaw.

A big series starts tomorrow in SF!

Both teams come off of dropping 2 of 3 games at home to teams that they should have squashed.

The Giants are playing some darn good baseball, and have caught a wiff of October air.

Hope the Dodgers are ready for what could be the first real SF vs LA playoff race in a while.

Just think about it... SF vs LA in the playoffs? Awesome.

    Oh, and "BEAT L A!"

I caught my mistake when I was looking at the sports page this morning and it said the Dodgers had dropped 3 straight.

Another wasted effort from Kershaw yesterday. I guess the Dodgers are going to let the Western chase get closer than I thought they would.

Nothing like coming into a team's thread to talk trash...image Please save your anti-Dodgers smack for your Bay Area Thread. lol

If the Dodgers do collapse they certainly didn't do it last night.

  • Looks like the Sherrill pick was a good one, If Wolf, Billingsley, and Kershaw can continue pitching like the are and we can get on the score board, Dodgers should be alright. Big win last night, lets get todays game and move on!

Another big win yesterday in Colorado and now the Dodgers are back up by 4 games. Hopefully they can start putting some wins together.

All I gotta say about yesterdays game against the Reds..............................................Dang!!!!!!!!!! Come on Dodgers. You are going to win the division playing games like last night.
  • Tonight's more like it!!!

    Yes it was.
  • Another big win! puts both Colorado and the Giants 6 out. Poor Kershaw he can not buy a win. When he pitches we just cant score runs. I dont think he won a game in the month of Aug.

I was checking out Kershaw's game logs, the kid's had 8 zero-run outings this year, and only got 3 wins out of them. The Dodgers have actually managed to turn 2 of these studly outings into extra-inning losses!

I haven't counted Rich, but you are probably spot on with your mention....Randy Wolfe also has many no decisions as well. Either way, I'm very happy with the way Clayton has pitched and how Torre handles his pitch counts. I would hope Torre lets Kershaw go til he doesn't get outs.

Tough loss to the Diamondbacks last night but I feel better now that I see the Dodgers got Jon Garland and Jim Thome.

You are kidding yourself if you think adding Thome will be much of a positive. Love the guy but he is about done. Garland is an inning eater at the back of the rotation.

I guess I didn't finish or make my statement like I did on the other thread...

<< <i>Wow!, Thome has been one of my favorites, but did the Dodgers need him??? They did also get Jon Garland too which they needed big time. >>

I'm not sure what Torre is thinking about Thome other than having a good slugging vet on the bench. I had always thought the Dodgers would use Pierre in LF and use Manny as a DH, but that's a big "if they even make the World Series"

I do think Garland is much more than an inning eater. Look who he pitched for this year plus the Dodgers already have a #1, #2, and maybe a #3 guy in their rotation..Maybe Garland can be like Weaver and give them some versatility.

  • Well another good night by Kershaw and once again the rest of the team took the night off! Kershaw era 2.89 total record 8-8 with a team thats 24 games over 500. Maybe by playoff time the baseball gods will decide its time to give him some wins!(I hope so!)

Nice to see the Dodgers show up last night in Frisco and even better to see Kuroda pitch 8 innings.

9 to 1 win last night against the Giants..and the Rockies lost to the Padres. A win tonight should finish the Giants chances at the the Dodgers and make it tough for them to get the Rockies.

Today it would be nice to see the Billingsley I remember from the first half of the season.

MLB leading 6 walk off hits this year and now he's got 30 hr's and soon to be 100 RBI's. Very happy for Ethier

BTW, Manny, if you are reading this....Please start hitting again.

Our boys are sure going into the playoffs red hot! NOT! My gosh. Let's win the west already.
  • ALRIGHT, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Win Today, and put the last 2 weeks behind us! Go Blue!

If the Dodgers do not win today's game, tomorrow their jerseys are going to be awfully tight around their necks, shrinking with each inning where the outcome of the game is in doubt until the 9th inning when they will find it very hard to breath.
  • The plus side is if we should (please no) lose the next two we still are in the playoffs with a losing streak, hopefully behind us!
  • BRING ON THE CARDINALS !!!!!!!!
  • larryallen73larryallen73 Posts: 6,061 ✭✭✭
I was getting really nervous that losing streak would never end. Glad they won the division. However, will they beat the Cardinals? The blue crew has not been looking too good lately. I have not followed the Cardinals but know they have two good pitchers and a few bats. I will be rooting for the Dodgers but not feeling really confident.
  • Good to win the first game. 2 more to go. Go Blue!
  • bman90278bman90278 Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭
Well the Dodgers just came up short again, but it was a fun and exciting season. Unfortunately they had a few injuries in the second half and a few key players who didn't pan it towards the end, but that's part of the sport.

I was very surprised the Dodgers beat the Cardinals and felt they were right there with the Phillies until their last second game 4, 9th inning melt down. They were a pitch away from being a 2 - 2 series....I had hoped they would at least make the Phills go back to LA, but it didn't happen.

Congrats to the Phills on their back to back WS appearances.

Now what? Bring in free agent pitcher? Trade a couple of prospects? The Jays are going to ask a MINT for Halladay next year at the trade deadline after watching Cliff Lee win the world series for the Phil's.

I still think the Dodgers need a premier #1 starter...It would allow Kershaw, Billingsley, ? to be in their prospective spots.

Off season signings??? Hard to say what the owner will allow because of his divorce.

Ya, you are right Cliff Lee didn't contribute to the World Series win!? Come on dude. What was he in the first two rounds of the playoffs? 3 and 0 with a 1.2 ERA or some such thing!? Without him they don't get to the WS.

there's a difference between getting to the WS and winning it. There isn't a team in baseball that wouldn't want Cliff Lee. He can pitch, hit, and steal image
  • I agree with Brian, it was a fun season but injures did not help the cause late in the season. The Phillies are a strong team and should contend for the next few years. Reminded me of the 70s when the Dodgers would beat the Phillies in the championship games just to lose to (You Know!). Need a starter and for Kershaw and Billingsley to improve some. Since I am not living in the LA area I have Pro football to fall back on! And with that I will say, GO RAVENS!
