The Official Dodgers Winning the NL Thread

bman90278bman90278 Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭
I know its very early into the season, but I'm very excited to see how the young Dodgers are doing. Matt Kemp is doing it in the field and at the plate...Has hit in every game and has some big hits. Loney and Ethier are looking good. Back to back awesome starts from Billingsley and Kershaw......And Broxton looks like he's developed an extra pitch which is getting him more outs!

Dang.........Anyone see Kershaw last night?

He was nasty...Seriously nasty. Throwing hard and dropping offspeed pitches about 10mph lower and still has the same arm angle....Batters looked confused. Kershaw just became the youngest Dodger to have 13K's in a game. Too bad the Dodgers blew the lead and cost him a W, but that's all good. They came back and beat them.

I just read that Lincecum believes he's found a problem with his mechanics -- he was looking at film of his first two games.

I'm still keeping the faith. I believe Tim-may will bounce back on Saturday. image

Rich, I wouldn't worry about Linceum. I'm sure he'll work thru his adjustments and be back in form before you know it. I don't know if I could blame the Wilson. He made some great pitches against Manny before he fought one off for a big hit. Kemp is so locked in that Manny's going to start getting some pitches, plus Hudson getting on base helps too. I think Wilson didn't want to give Loney anything good to hit, but you can't do that when the bases are jammed in the 9th. I'm hoping the Dodgers bats are much better than many people think...Just look at their #8 hitter Blake. That's a fairly good hitter for that slot. Either way, I think it was a big win for the Dodgers.

Tell ya straight up- I think the Dodgers have the BEST team in the majors. I will be suprised if they dont make it to the World Series & win it.

I don't know about that, but I'm really excited this year. I really feel there isn't a reason they can duplicate what they did last year which is awesome...but they need to stay healthy.

Their offense: If everyone hits for their career average this year it does make it one of the top 5 lineups in baseball and probably the best in the 6-8 spots.

    Starting Lineup
    R Furcal SS
    O Hudson 2B
    M Ramirez LF
    M Kemp CF
    A Ethier RF
    R Martin C
    J Loney 1B
    C Blake 3B

    Pitching
I'm very happy with Billingsley & Kershaw, but we really need a #3 starter who is close to the the #1 and #2 starters. Can Jason Schmidt be back and ready this year? Why can't the Dodgers get Pedro Martinez and use him in a very limited role this year? Look how valuable Greg Maddox was to the young pitchers last year. They couldn't say enough about him last year.

Chad Billingsley is now 4 and 0 after another great start and the Dodgers stopped their 2 game losing streak.

  • bman90278bman90278 Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭
Chad Billingsley is now 5 W's 0 L's...Should have been 6 and 0 and the Dodgers just swept the Padres in a 4 game series. They also have not lost at home and are within a couple of games of setting a MLB record for most consecutive wins at home to start a season. I know its just into the season, but the Dodgers are doing things they haven't done in many years. They are winning games within their division, making many late game comebacks and really doing it without a great starting rotation.

Brian, you should be freakin' pumped about your Dodger team! They are doing really well, Russell Martin is kinda annoying me with his lack of HR's & SB's but I expect he should be heating up soon enough!

Im rooting for the Dodgers, I would love to see a SOX/Dodgers World Series- ( Sox in 5 though image )
  • bman90278bman90278 Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭
Paul, Yes I'm pumped right now but we all know it's a very long season. It's exciting to see so many of our young guys stepping up and they seem to have lots of upside. I'd love to see a Sox Dodgers series too...That would be crazy. When I went to the Dodgers Sox game last year at the Colesium I couldn't believe how many Sox fans were at the game.
  • bman90278bman90278 Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭
The Dodgers are rolling along. It would be nice to see them tie or set the MLB recored for most consecutive home wins to start the season, but I just hope they can do this in late season.

Unless he wanted to play for a sure loser every year, why would be care about the Padres? He has moved on to more important
things like winning rings and blowing up 100 mph relievers in front of the home crowd!

ok, you lose all credibility if you typed that Friday matchup with a straight face! image

Sanchez is a very good pitcher, and Lincy is a legit ace, but Zito? Not that I want it to happen, but I could totally see Sanchez or Lincecum ending the streak. Course, we gotta handle the Nats tomorrow and not overlook Zito on Friday.

    13-0 at home! Woo hoo!

Congrats to the Dodgers on their new MLB record!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see the Dodgers losing to any of the SF pitchers over the weekend. Lincecum is a stud and Sanchez and Zito should keep it close.

I just gotta say that any real baseball fan that is happy when a super star tests positve for PED's is stupid. The game already has lots of damage that ruined an entire era, not to mention tarnishing sacred baseball records. Baseball and the players union let it happen and I can only hope that there are legitimate reasons for guys that get caught in present times. Either way, I'm glad baseball is testing and moving forward...I personally think more testing should be in order to take away even more doubt...Because us fans have too much invested in this sport.

Just got home so all this is just hitting me....Dodgerstown will be fine...The team is much better than last year and Loney and Martin are certainly not up to par. Being in the NL West helps too. image
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,661 ✭✭✭✭✭
Brian it definately sucks losing Manny but you guys are going to be fine.

I still see you guys winning the NL, I mean I highly doubt that the Dodgers are going to fall apart at the seam because Manny is gone for two months.

    Keep the faith Buddy!

Zito didn't look too shabby the last time he pitched against the Dodgers. Although he pitches for that team up in the bay area, I'm happy he's getting back on track. I've listened to many of his interviews and he's always seemed like a down to earth guy.

Great outing from Eric Stults last night. Complete game shutout and some good timely hitting....Nice to see the Dodgers back in form. I only wished they saved some runs and hits for today as hits and runs will be a premium.

Another crappy outing for Sanchez. He's been having a tough time getting the ball over the plate. A few fastballs missed the zone by 1 foot yesterday. image Sometimes he's deadly, sometimes he's dead. Aragh!

Hmm, what's better payback against Casey Blake's mocking Brian Wilson with a gesture after hitting the game tying HR off him?

    a) Giants score 2 in the top of the 13th, and Wilson retires the side for the victory.

    b) Casey Blake gets plunked the next time he faces the Giants

    c) all of the above?

Dodgers just swept the Mets and are building a nice lead in first place...........................................Where's all the Manny haters and Dodgers haters who said the Dodgers only win because of Manny???

Look at the Dodgers lineup without Manny...Doesn't it still look solid all the way down to Blake in the 8th slot?
