It is a "Pine Tree Shilling" silver art bar (CGSF-5). It was minted by Coin Galleries of San Francisco. I paid $22.50 for it (spot silver closed at $21.46/oz). According to the 4th edition Archie Kidd silver art bar price guide book, this bar had a mintage of 7,500.

Today, I went off the beaten path to find this silver art bar.................
It is a 1-oz "Centennial Chattanooga Choo-Choo" silver art bar. Minted in 1980 but I do not know what private minted produced it and I do not know how many were minted. The "A0607" stamp is the serial number. The 4th edition of the Archie Kidd book does have it listed but there is no information on it. The 5th edition Archie Kidd silver bar price guide might have some updated information on this art bar.
The reason that I said that this art bar find was off the beaten path is because I bought this silver art bar at a flea market in Tennessee today. I usually do not go to flea markets to find silver art bars but this was an unexpected find for me in an unusual place. I usually go to my local coin dealers and to coin shows to find silver art bars. I guess I will start going to flea markets more often now. I paid $24.00 for this bar. (Spot silver finished at $22.09/oz).
I remember seeing this silver art bar on ebay but I do not see it that much there and I spend a lot of time looking at silver art bars on ebay. Within the last year or so, I have seen only 2 regular ebay auctions on this Chattanooga Choo-Choo silver art bar but the last auction that I have seen on this particular art bar was several months ago. The last ebay winning auction price for this bar that I remember seeing was $61.
Of course I love this silver art bar. I feel good finding interesting silver art bars. Silver art bar porn is good.

Thanks for that information OPA. I looked in my 4th edition silver Archie Kidd silver art bar guidebook and I did not find information about who produced it. I looked on the internet and had no luck. I have seen a recent Ebay auction on a similar Choo-Choo bar WITHOUT a COA sell for much more than $35 on ebay. Here is a recent ebay auction that just ended on a 1-oz silver Choo-Choo silver art bar:
This one sold for $52.50 and there is no mention of a COA in the ebay description. That is the lowest ebay bid that I have seen on a Choo-Choo silver art bar. This is the third auction that I have seen on this art bar. Granted, spot silver is at over $24.30 when this auction ended but I have seen higher ebay winning bids on this Choo-Choo bar. Before this ebay auction, the last ebay winning bid that I saw for the Choo-Choo art bar was $61 and there was no COA mentioned in the ebay (or shown in the photo) description at that time and I remember that particular art bar was in close to the same condition as mine and spot silver was well under $20 at the time of this last ebay auction. I did see another ebay auction for over $82 but it had a COA with it.
This is not scientific but based on my observations, this bar will bring between $52 to $82 on ebay and it does not seem that condition of the bar matters that much. I will admit that I have not been collecting silver art bars for a very long time. I have only been collecting for 2 years. There probably were Choo-Choo silver art bars that were selling in the $30-$35 range but that was well before I started collecting silver art bars. I will also admit that I have never sold any silver art bars on ebay and I do not have plans to do that because I like what I collect and I plan to keep my rare and semi-rare bars. However, I like paying close attention on what certain silver art bars will fetch on ebay because that is very interesting to me of what people are willing to pay for a silver art bar. That is one reason why I prefer to buy silver art bars locally because I do not want to pay an ebay premium for one. I guess I am a cheap silver art bar collector.

A silver art bar purchase that I made at a coin show today................
It is 1-oz "Mount St. Helens" silver art bar. It is not a '70's silver art bar but I wanted to post it on this thread. It was minted in 1982 by the Golden State Mint. I paid $30 for this bar (spot closed at $26.77 yesterday). The "G.S.M." on the left hand side of the reverse side of the art bar stands for Golden State Mint.

It is has a proof finish and there is no toning on this silver art bar. It came in an airtite but I took it out of the airtite to take pictures of it. Here is a silver art bar that I bought from a local coin dealer last Saturday....................
It is a 1-oz "Captain William Kidd" silver art bar (USSC-150). It was minted in 1973 by United states Silver Corporation. I paid $39.31 for this bar (3-25-2011 spot silver = $37.32). My very first serial #1 silver art bar...................
It is a 1-oz "LA County Fair 1980" silver art bar (AGSC-2). It was minted in 1980 by American Gold & Silver Corporation. There were 275 of these were minted. I won this ebay auction last week and I paid a total of $82.99 for it (spot was $45.23/oz at that time). The serial number is on the reverse side (see second picture). Serial # 1 (of 275). This art bar was not on my silver art bar wish list but it got my attention and I decided to bid on it because it was the first one of the 275 that were minted. During the almost 3 years that I have been collecting silver art bars, this is only the 3rd time that I have seen a #1 issue art bar on ebay. I have never seen a #1 issue of any art bar on the local level. #1 issue bars are interesting to collect because it is the first minted bar and it always feels good to get the first bar of a particular title.

Spot was $33.74 at the time that I bought it earlier today since this particular dealer was charging $3 over spot for silver bars but spot ended up closing at $34.62 for today. I like the IASAC silver art bars and rounds. Those are always good to collect (if you can find them). The Mount Everest Mint "Wonder Woman" is a winner among the silver art bars pictured in. It fetches a good premium on ebay based on past auctions that I saw. It is part of the Heroes of the Comics series and those are hard to find. The 1979 "Elvis" art bar is a good one too IMO. Only 500 of those minted. 4 common-minted Ceeco mint holiday-themed art bars. Nice paint job on those. The USSC bar is good and those can be hard to find depending on the theme of the particular USSC art bar that one is seeking. I do not know anything about the art rounds.

Awesome stuff Josey ! I picked up a few bars at a show last weekend, but they were super common bars and nothing worth sharing. There's a large show in Lakeland this weekend that I hope to do well at if I can beat Southfork to the art bars ... Hopefully I'll have some finds to bump this thread with shortly.

Thanks ModernCoin. I guess you and Southfork will be competing for whatever silver art bars are at that Lakeland show. One day, I will go to a Florida coin show and give you and Southfork some more competition. If I decide to go to a Florida coin show, it will probably be the FUN show in January 2013.
I have not found many '70's silver art bars at the LCS and I also have not found many art bars at the 2 coin shows that I went to so far this year. Those old silver art bars are getting scarce and it has been a challenge for me to find some of the bars that are on my silver art bar wish list.

Your welcome...btw are you a member of IASAC? For those that are not familiar with that organization...it's the ANA ( small version ) of silver art bar collectors...aka: International Association of Silver Art Collectors

<< <i>Nice bars. Is the crucifixion scene done by Hamilton Mint, and if so, is it part of a collection?
>>
It is a Hamilton Mint silver bar. It was minted in 1983. It is part of the "Historical Events" series according to the 4th edition Archie Kidd silver art bar price guide.
<< <i>BigE ask me to post these for him...btw they are nice bars.
>>
A 1-oz "Vince Lombardi" silver art bar. It was minted in 1973 by Colonial Mint. I bought it today from a dealer. Including sales tax, I paid a total of $38.39 for it (11-25-2011 spot silver finished at $30.98/oz).
It is a 1973 Lombardo Mint Ron Heyer silver art octagon.
I put it on my digital scale and it actually weighs 1.1 troy oz's
A 1974 United State Silver Corporation "The Penguin" silver art bar. I paid $35 for it (spot was $33.67/oz at the time) at a coin show that I went to.
A 1974 United States Silver Corporation "The Kangaroo" silver art bar. I also paid $35 (spot was $33.67/oz at the time) for it at a coin show that I went to.
<< <i>Awesome stuff Josey ! >>

Here is that other silver art bar thread that I was talking about. It has a lot of good silver art bar pictures in it.
