Yes, it's proof like and in a h/d capsule for display purposes. ( The bar is out of the capsule when the picture was taken) Different holiday's for the major players, makes sense.

Welcome to the forum, SilverArt!! I'm glad you're here. I know of only one person who tracks their art bar purchases by date and silver spot on that date. Please carry on with showing us your quite wonderful collection! BTW, I could never get signed up on GIM, thanks to their arcane procedures.

Thanks 1jester.
Yeah I have been collecting silver art bars since August 2008 and I mainly love to collect 1970's silver art bars. I found out about this forum when another poster mentioned it on a thread in the Coin Talk forum. I like this forum (and Coin Talk forum) a lot and I am very impressed with your silver art bar collection. I usually like to go to coin shows and to my local coin dealers to find '70's silver art bars because I can get them at a lower premium over spot. Even though that Coke art bar that I posted a picture of cost me $25, that was not a bad price considering that most of those Coke bars sell for well over $30 on ebay. I have never had any luck bidding on a Coke bar on ebay. I get outbid all of the time and I just gave up on bidding on Coke bars on ebay and instead, I try to find some locally for a decent price (usually $25 or lower). The most that I paid for a Coca-Cola art bar was $30.00. $30 for a Coke bar is the maximum price that I am willing to pay for a Coke silver art bar.
As for GIM............Well GIM did have some arcane procedures for registering, however, there have been some major changes. GIM no longer exists. The main founder of GIM decided to get rid of it and now the other founders and mods created another site called GIM2. GIM2 is nowhere as good as the original GIM was in my opinion. I am not at GIM2 (got banned on GIM2) so it is not a big deal to me. I moved on.
This forum seems to fit me because I am a collector. I also post on a forum called Coin Talk and I also post on a forum called Gold-Silver.US.
Collecting '70's Silver art bars is my favorite hobby and I enjoy it a lot. I am still learning about '70's silver art bars and I enjoy learning and seeing other posters post pics of some of their '70's art bars that I have never seen before.
Since I am new here, I will post a few more pictures later today of a select few of my silver art bars that I have in my art bar collection and then from that point on, I will be selective and occasionally post a picture of future '70's silver art bar purchases that I make.
BTW thanks for creating this thread because I gives me a chance to show some of and to talk about what I like to collect.

Well, once again, I'm glad you're here; I learned a lot from you and your research over on cointalk and GIM. That's the main reason I started this thread, to gain information and broaden the knowledge base for others. So thanks for that!
Here's a PAMP set I picked up recently, dedicated to Polish Catholic icons. A set of 12, with a production run of 2000. I'm not into Catholic icons per se, but I couldn't resist the price of $30 per bar that this set cost. After all, they are Pamps!! LOL. And, they are exquisite artwork. They celebrate medieval Polish treasures which are themselves national treasures and wonderful artwork.

This is a 1-oz "Wild Turkey" silver art bar (JM-20). It was minted in 1973 by the Justice Mint. The total mintage for this art bar was 5000. I bought this art bar from my local dealer in February 2009 and I paid $15.25 for it (spot silver was $12.83/oz on the day of purchase).

Another good '70's silver art bar find......................
It is a 1-oz "Lookout Mountain" silver art bar (WWM-1). It was minted by the World Wide Mint in 1974. I bought it in August 2009 at a coin show and I paid $16.00 for it (spot silver was $14.15 at the time of purchase).

It was minted in 1974 by the Silver Mint. This bar is part of The National Audubon Collection and according to the 4th edition of the Archie Kidd Silver Art Bar price guide, the mintage number for this particular silver art bar was 5,000. I bought this art bar last month at a coin show and I paid $18.00 for it (spot silver closed at $17.37/oz on the day of purchase).
You may not be able to tell from the first picture but there is toning on the bottom part on the front of this art bar. Serial # 1044.

A 1-oz "1913 V Nickel" silver art bar (WWM-53)..........
It was minted by the World Wide Mint in 1974. There were 10,000 of these art bar minted according to the 4th edition of Archie Kidd's book called "An Indexed Guide Book of Silver Art Bars". This silver art bar weighs slightly over 1 troy oz (1.01 troy oz on my digital scale) and there is toning on both the front and reverse side of this art bar. I bought this art bar at a coin show last week and I paid $19.00 for it (spot silver was $17.70/oz at that time).

The 1-oz United States Silver Corp silver art round (MED-1B) was minted in 1973.
I think that The Silver Trade Unit "Walking Liberty" round was minted in the 1970's but I do not know what year that it was minted in. I think that most of the Silver Trade Unit silver rounds were minted in the 1970's but I also believe that some of the Silver Trade Unit silver rounds were also minted of the in the early '80's.

Thanks for the info! Do you know when the Sunshine bars and rounds were produced?
I just picked up another PAMP Statue of Liberty in the old holder. And this one is much older than the other one, with a serial number around 12,000 instead of 646,000. For some reason the package was cut, but not enough to remove the bar from the holder. There are some differences between the bars, most notably the different trademark on the top of the reverse (surrounded by a rectangular box on the older bar), and the cameo proof finish on the older bar, whereas the newer one is lacking the cameo effect.

That's a cool ship bar, and I have one or two of them. I'm really beginning to like the Madison Mint! Thanks for sharing.
Here are a few more recent pickups This first one is another JM MTB Statue of Liberty, with a serial number of 79979.
This next one is a complete mystery to me. Can someone please help me ID it? It has luscious toning on it too.
This is a strange version of this bar with an older style of script, and probably predates the regular ones without serial numbers. The reverse is blank.

This is my first bar of this kind, and it's magnificent! I have the two prior versions but didn't realize how beautiful this bar could be.
Now here's something rather interesting. Two otherwise very common JM bars, but one has an extremely low serial number, and in fact is from what looks like a separate run for the TD Bank. But did JM produce separate serial number series for these (or other commissioned) bars? My guess is that they didn't (and there's only one serial number run for all bars of this type), but who knows?

Here are some more 250 g bars from the Spanish refining company, and boy are they sweet and shiny!!! They have a highly polished look to them. I suppose they're newer than my previous ones, and are only 999 fine versus 9999 fine for the earlier ones. Also, these have a design on the bottom.
Two more Valcambi SRH-Club bars, both Valcambi and Credit Suisse brands. The Credit Suisse one has the AG stamp before the serial number.
Here's something strange (and probably very old): a 20 g round with no fineness stated, just "pure silver", which might be understood to be 999 or 9997 as I've seen on old Oegussa bars before.

This is a 1-oz "Clarence Darrow" silver art bar (HAM-625).
It was minted by the Hamilton Mint in 1975. I bought it today from my local coin dealer and I paid $19.87 for it (spot was $18.37 at that time). There is toning on the reverse side and the edges of this bar. The dates say 1857-1938 in the description on the reverse side of this silver art bar. This art bar was minted in 1973 by the Mount Everest Mint. I bought this yesterday (May 29) at my local coin dealer and I paid $19.87 for it (spot was $18.37 at that time). There is a lot of toning on both sides of this silver art bar. There were 8,875 of these bars minted according to the 4th edition of Archie Kidd's guide book called "An Indexed Guide Book of Silver Art Bars". There are certain Mount Everest Mint art bars that have serial numbers on them but this particular Mount Everest Mint bat does not have any serial number on it.
On the reverse side, under the "Star of Wonder", it looks like it says "M Viquers"(spelling?). I do not know what that means but I am making a guess by saying that it looks like the name of the designer that created the art bar design but I am not very sure on that. The "MEM" ,that is located just under the weight and purity stamp, stands for Mount Everest Mint. It might be hard to see in the second picture but just under the "MEM", it has the copyright symbol with the year 1973 on it.

It was minted by the Hamilton Mint in 1975. This bar is part of a 24-bar set called "The Treasury of American Folklore". I bought this bar today from my local coin dealer for $20.50 (spot closed at $19.17). It might be hard to see in the 3rd picture because of the toning but the serial # is 1132 on the right end of the side of this bar and it says .999 F.S. on the left end of this side of this bar. There were 10,000 minted according to the 4th edition of Archie Kidd's book called "An Indexed Guide Book of Silver Art Bars". The side of the bar looks like it says "76" on it as in 1976 mint year but the 4th edition art bar price guide has the mint year as 1975. There is some toning on this bar.

Yeah I agree that this particular Hamilton Mint bar is not rare. Most Hamilton Mint bars that I have seen had mintages of 10,000. That is a lot of Hamilton Mint bars that were minted back then.
I could not go because that is a little too far for me to travel. I live in Tennessee. The next coin show that I am going to is in late August in Dalton, GA. I usually have some luck finding the silver art bars that I like at coin shows. The Summer Dalton, GA coin show is a special one for me because that was the coin show were I began to seriously start collecting '70's silver art bars. It was the Dalton summer coin show in August 2008 that got me seriously collecting '70's silver art bars. It is a very good coin show but I do not think that it nearly as big as Baltimore. The Dalton summer coin show usually has between 150-200 tables. I think that the Baltimore coin show is much bigger than that.

I won this silver art bar on ebay last Thursday (July 8, 2010) and paid a total price of $30.59 ($26.59 winning bid + $4.00) for it (spot was $17.96/oz at the time). The price that I paid for this art bars is a fair price on ebay in my opinion. I did not expect to win this particular bar on ebay because I have seen this particular bar go for between $40-$45 on ebay in past ebay auctions. Like most Coca-Cola silver art bars, this one was hard to find locally at my local dealers and at coin shows. I guess I got lucky to get it at the price that I did.

<< <i>Welcome to the forum, SilverArt!!
>>

Here are a couple recent rounds for me. As usual, I'd appreciate any information on them. I really like the quality and look of the Sunshine round.
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
BTW nice PAMP "Statue of Liberty" silver bars.
Has anyone seen this before?
My first Prospector ounce round. They're nice!
And here's my first 1000 fine bar:
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
EDIT (11-13-2010): I sold this silver art bar today.
Another JM bar with a reverse commemorating something about the Italian police force:
Rarely do I purchase these Degussa bars because, I guess, they are non-standard size and don't fit into my Airtites. But I thought this one would go with the other Degussas I have:
Someone please tell me they have information on this old round:
Anyone ever heard of this bar? It's a 3-ouncer.
Which of these is the real General?
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
This silver bar is part of a 50-bar set called "Our Greatest Americans". Serial # 4208 (out of 10,000).
EDIT (11-13-2010): I sold this silver art bar today.
EDIT (11-13-2010): I sold this silver art bar today.

It was minted by the World Wide Mint in 1977 and it is part of the Coca-Cola 75th Annersary ingot set. I won this silver art bar on ebay last Sunday
(June 13) and I paid $29.99 for it (spot was $18.22/oz at the time). There was a mintage of 12,000 of these silver bars according to the second edition
of Thomas A Mock's guide book called "Coca-Cola Bottler's 75th Anniversary Ingot and Round Guide Book 1975-1988".
I did the same on Friday at the Baltimore coin show...picked up a bunch for $20 or slightly less.
<< <i>Nice pick-up ... not rare though...

It was minted by the World Wide Mint in 1977 and it is part of the Coca-Cola 75th Anniversary ingot set.

I have several 100g calendar bars, that I picked up on the bay for less than $80 each (PAMP) mostly Italian...fortunately for me, the seller did not know what he had because of the tiny logo.
The first one.......
A 1-oz "Prairie Schooner" silver art bar (PAT-11). It was minted by the Patrick Mint in 1973. I paid $20.00 for it (spot closed at $18.02). Not a rare '70's silver art bar. 9900 were minted according to the 4th edition of the Archie Kidd silver art bar price guide.
The second one........
A 1-oz "Graf Zeppelin" silver art bar (ONE-5). It was minted by One Mint in 1973, however, the 4th edition Archie Kidd silver art bar price guide mentions that there were two separate mints that used the same reverse and the Sierra Mint was one of those mints that used the reverse type shown above. Mintage of 2500 according to the silver art bar price guide. Serial # 2400. I paid $18.50 for it (spot closed at $18.02).
