Got nothing in my 81 Football or 84 Football... The big card was 84 Dickerson which was OC.... I did get a 49er QB in the 81 Football, but not Montana...

10 packs of 1980 Baseball yielded nothing

6 packs of 1979 Baseball had 1 OC Nolan Ryan with wax stain

Centering on the 79s is brutal..

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

Just finished opening the packs I'm not saving. These came in back to back packs. Centering is off but otherwise very clean.

almost a week after receiving the packs, and NO ONE pulled a Lemieux?

I hope this is not true.

fergie23 pulled a Lemieux AND a Gretzky! What we have not seen yet is a Montana rookie. I only purchased one pack of 81 football, but seeing that no one has pulled one yet I am tempted to open it. image
    Looking for Carl Willey items.

I don't recall an '84 Elway or a '80 Henderson being pulled either.

Received grades back for the Lemieux and Gretzky rookies. The Lemieux grade is fair but the Gretzky will probably be resubmitted. Submitted under the $14 5 day special, requested no qualifiers.

    NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1985 O-PEE-CHEE 9 MARIO LEMIEUX
NEAR MINT 7 1979 TOPPS 18 WAYNE GRETZKY

I think you got hosed on the Gretzky. The Mario appears to be a bit better than a straight 8 too.

Just wanted to see if anyone got a 79 Topps #318 Bob Welch in their rips. Would love to get a nicely centered card for my rookies collection.

    << <i>Got my packs today...

    5 - 81 FB
    3 - 86 FB
    2 - 84 FB
    1 - 76 FB

I was pretty worried when I first saw the conditions of the packs. Two of 81's were slightly curved on one end, both 84's looked like they had extra "wax" on them and the 76 was curved and I could clearly see that at least the top and bottom cards would have damage!

The 81's yielded 14 nicely centered cards (all commons) and 2 stars (Simms & Clark) both slightly off center. 8 of the commons made nice upgrades for my 81 set. 2 cards had damage other than centering (wax stains on backs, edge nicks, etc...)

The 86's yielded 7 nicely centered cards (all commons) and no major stars. 7 cards had damage including 3 with blank backs!

The 84's were the worst of the bunch, yielding only 1 centered common and no stars. 6 cards with damage

Needless to say I was disappointed so far and from the looks of the last pack, I wasn't to hopefull.

It turned out that other than the top and bottom cards having corner issues, the 76's were centered nicely with only few (3-5) off center.

    Including the following two!!!!!!!!

    image

The Payton does have a rough spot on the edge of the bottom border, but overall I'm happy with it. image This is one of only two 70's star cards that I've never owned. Just wish I still owned them though... >>

    Update...

Sent these in on last months specials, the Payton grade popped today, I was shocked!!!!

    1 1 14508418 MINT 9 1976 TOPPS 148 WALTER PAYTON Card US

The O.J. is on the $4.50 special so it may take awhile, but if that Payton pulled a 9, that O.J. has a shot at a 10!

You mean a Payton was pulled from a box of cellos? The hell you say.

If beanbag sees this thread his head might explode.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
