    Very generous offer.

Though I did not lose my job, I did change jobs in December fearing the axe was going to come to my organization (all contractors were laid off, and they brought in McKinsey to evaluate the remaining workforce). I just had no desire to go through the process of friends/co-workers losing their jobs and the same work that was done by a full work force being thrown on the remaining 2/3.

Actually ended up with a very nice pay raise at the end of the day, so there is hope for those of you out there looking for work. Be willing to change industries/locations and you can usually find a job. These situations also provide an excellent opportunity to refresh your skills/change careers.

I lost my job in the beginning of January. This is very kind of you. I promise when I get a job I will pay it forward some how. Below is the link to my posting on the day I was laid off.

As i work for US Bank now, i only took a 5% payroll cut (to stay employed). Nice to see that it started from the head CEO Richard Davis--all the way down. That's 56,000 employees 5% lighter but still employed.

I wont say who sent this to me (See quotes below)..but if I find out this is true I will goto every length to call you out and make your life heck on these boards forever. If you didn't lose your job then DON'T SEND ME YOUR ADDRESS and save face. This was done for those who need to have their spirits lifted during this hard economic time in our country.

Don't mistake my kindness for weakness.

"Your 1975 Cello giveaway is a fantastic gesture. It also annoys me that at least two of the people listed DID NOT lose their jobs (and another that is a student). I won't point out who, but it's pretty sad that some decided to take advantage of your goodwill. Karma is a bi%$h and I'm sure it will come back to them further down the road."

Yeah, that's pretty cool, but I'm still trying to figure out what it says on the CDs to the right of the cellos. What the heck does IJustLoveCards listen to?

I'm thinking something like a modified Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds...

Picture yourself alone in your kitchen,
A vintage pack that waits at your side.
Somebody sent you, so open quite slowly,
    A pack of cellophane pride.

Minty fresh cards with oranges and brown,
Thoughts of 10's dance in your head.
Look for the one with his hands on his knees,
    But he's gone.

Robin in the sky with diamonds,
Robin in the sky with diamonds,
Robin in the sky with diamonds,
    Ah... Ah...

Following down past a Burleson rookie,
Where Afros and porn 'staches lie.
Every face smiles as you drift past the commons,
    That stack so incredibly high.

You see green and purple, get all excited,
The card that might make your day.
    But it's just a '68 MVP card,
    And you're done.

George Brett in the sky with diamonds,
George Brett in the sky with diamonds,
George Brett in the sky with diamonds,
    Ah... Ah...

Picture yourself with a loupe on a mission,
Plasticine sleeves filled with cards making stacks.
Suddenly someone is there in an email,
The girl with those cellophane packs.

thanks for doing this. especially in the face of all that is horrible in the world. this must be at least $4000 worth of cardboard gold! i do not qualify, as i work in a liquor warehouse that supplies the whole state of Michigan. sad as it sounds, the worse the economy gets, the more people drink. if they cant afford the good stuff, they go to the cheap stuff. the sauce is one thing people aren't willing to give up. guess that makes it semi-recession proof. hopefully all here will return to work soon or see some real effects from the stimulus... as well as yield some sharp, shiny PSA 10s!!!

good luck on all accounts and can't wait to see that minty gold!!!!

Just wanted to add my thoughts to the thread. I am fortunate enough to still be working but the city I live in (Dayton, OH) is getting crushed.

Offering to provide a little pick me up is a very generous and kind act. The goodness of the people on these boards really amazes me!

    Pass it forward.

I just wanted to say I had hoped we didn't have 10 members here who are currently out of work, but it seems that we do. I'm very saddened to read this bad news. I will pray for everyone today when I go to mass this morning.

I sincerely hope no one experiences what I went thru the last 18 months and that things all work better in the long run.

    Sincerely,
    Brian

heritage addict: if u want my pack, pm me and i'll pm ijustlovecards to send it to u instead of me!!--or just pm him and eliminate the middle (pack)man!!

    << <i>IJustLoveCards -

Very generous of you. After finding out we are pregnant in December......I was let go the first week of January. My county is now up to 16% Unemployment!image It has been rough not working.

The worst part of it all.....my Wife's job does not have insurance, and it was $890 /mo for COBRA insurance image

I am not sure if 10 people have posted ahead of me or not, but either way thanks IJustLoveCards. >>

Just a quick thought...Being in employee benefits I was interested to read that in the new stimulus bill that the President just signed, you might be responsible now for only 35% of your COBRA premiums. There are some restrictions but it might be worth your while to do some research and call your COBRA administrator. Hopefully this will save you some big money!!
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!
