Though I did not lose my job, I did change jobs in December fearing the axe was going to come to my organization (all contractors were laid off, and they brought in McKinsey to evaluate the remaining workforce). I just had no desire to go through the process of friends/co-workers losing their jobs and the same work that was done by a full work force being thrown on the remaining 2/3.
Actually ended up with a very nice pay raise at the end of the day, so there is hope for those of you out there looking for work. Be willing to change industries/locations and you can usually find a job. These situations also provide an excellent opportunity to refresh your skills/change careers.
I lost my job in the beginning of January. This is very kind of you. I promise when I get a job I will pay it forward some how. Below is the link to my posting on the day I was laid off.
As i work for US Bank now, i only took a 5% payroll cut (to stay employed). Nice to see that it started from the head CEO Richard Davis--all the way down. That's 56,000 employees 5% lighter but still employed.
I wont say who sent this to me (See quotes below)..but if I find out this is true I will goto every length to call you out and make your life heck on these boards forever. If you didn't lose your job then DON'T SEND ME YOUR ADDRESS and save face. This was done for those who need to have their spirits lifted during this hard economic time in our country.
Don't mistake my kindness for weakness.
"Your 1975 Cello giveaway is a fantastic gesture. It also annoys me that at least two of the people listed DID NOT lose their jobs (and another that is a student). I won't point out who, but it's pretty sad that some decided to take advantage of your goodwill. Karma is a bi%$h and I'm sure it will come back to them further down the road."
I work on wall street...and my company is on dealbreaker.com every other day. I've been lucky to survive so far with a net 25% pay cut. But so many of my colleagues / friends have had it quite rough.

PM SENT this has to be the best giveaway I have seen and I wish I didn't qualify for it.. good luck to those who did and for those who didn't may you not qualify anytime soon
out of work since september and this is my favorite set of all time (first i ever bought). i remember getting the babysitter to buy me those cello packs at the savon drugs in woodland hills. nice lady.
anyway, i got here too late, but thought i'd drop that in anyway. thanks for being kind
thanks for doing this. especially in the face of all that is horrible in the world. this must be at least $4000 worth of cardboard gold! i do not qualify, as i work in a liquor warehouse that supplies the whole state of Michigan. sad as it sounds, the worse the economy gets, the more people drink. if they cant afford the good stuff, they go to the cheap stuff. the sauce is one thing people aren't willing to give up. guess that makes it semi-recession proof. hopefully all here will return to work soon or see some real effects from the stimulus... as well as yield some sharp, shiny PSA 10s!!!
good luck on all accounts and can't wait to see that minty gold!!!!
I just wanted to say I had hoped we didn't have 10 members here who are currently out of work, but it seems that we do. I'm very saddened to read this bad news. I will pray for everyone today when I go to mass this morning.
I sincerely hope no one experiences what I went thru the last 18 months and that things all work better in the long run.
This is definetly the best giveaway I have seen on here, just on premise alone. I pray for the best to those who have lost their jobs in this struggling economy.
from heritageaddict: <Wow, very nice gesture. I haven't worked since early fall, not many people need subdivisions designed right now lol. Brian, glad to see you are back to work.>
if you couldnt say know to anyone, looks like you missed doran to me????? or did i miss something?????
good catch, rube!! since heritageaddict has been out of work since early fall (which is a very long time), i will pull a seinfeld (or is it a george??!!) and "re-gift" my pack to him if he would like (also since he posted before i did yesterday morning)--besides, i opened a 75 rack pack this past summer (didnt get anything much out of it though).
heritage addict: if u want my pack, pm me and i'll pm ijustlovecards to send it to u instead of me!!--or just pm him and eliminate the middle (pack)man!!
Ok here they are all packaged up and reaady to go to the post office monday....I also included jeff and longtimemetsfan packages in the picture as well....
Priority Mail and D/C to boot! Awesome job by IJustLoveCards and best of luck to those receiving. May you be able to pay it forward sometime soon!!! And may it come back to IJustLoveCards ten fold!!!
The pic of all those morale stimulus packs lined up and ready to ship is the coolest pic I've seen in quite a while. Good luck with the rips and the search for employment, plus a big thumbs up to IJustLoveCards.
Amazingly generous gesture here. I hope everyone pulls gem mint Bretts and Younts. I also hope the guy doing the giving has good luck in everything he does.
IJustLoveCards, you really didn't need to do that, and I really do appreciate your generosity and mikelowell25, thanks for offering up your pack as well that was a very nice gesture. The good guys on this board never cease to amaze me.
Very generous of you. After finding out we are pregnant in December......I was let go the first week of January. My county is now up to 16% Unemployment! It has been rough not working.
The worst part of it all.....my Wife's job does not have insurance, and it was $890 /mo for COBRA insurance
I am not sure if 10 people have posted ahead of me or not, but either way thanks IJustLoveCards. >>
Just a quick thought...Being in employee benefits I was interested to read that in the new stimulus bill that the President just signed, you might be responsible now for only 35% of your COBRA premiums. There are some restrictions but it might be worth your while to do some research and call your COBRA administrator. Hopefully this will save you some big money!!
