What would you pay..

For #22.00 face in Proof Frankies & JFK's (that's 44 total) from proof sets, they all would grade out at 64 or better. years- 55-64.

9x, 10x, 11x face?

just curious.

most are still in the cello, and none have ever been dipped or 'cleaned'.

If they are offered at 9X face, I would give that for them. But if I had to offer, I'd probably do 11-13X face for them, being that they're the most common years.

On eBay, Sellers are getting 10x face on the circulated stuff. Proof's should fetch more.

i tend to think like a dealer in these types of transactions.

melt. melt. melt. whatever the going rate of silver defines as a multiple of face.

you need to leave room for a profit.

Why not just ask the owner to donate them to you? And pay shipping, if they'll go for it.

Yea, under melt. I don't have much desire to tie my money up in this stuff and then try to slep it around to dealers. And I learned when I was a dealer that it was a waste of time to put junk silver out in a case to try to sell it to collectors. They weren't interested even at the the same or slightly less than what the bullion dealers were paying.

I know that Proof silver out of the mint packages is not quite junk, but it is really close to it.

Nowadays I want my money in REAL coins.

I don't see why 10X face would be too high of an offer....folks are asking for 10X+ for common circulated 90% items...at least these are in Mint cello...now if you were looking to resell them that is different...then yes, you do have to try and figure in a reasonable profit given the volatility in metals...

Some, of these responses were how can I say interesting.

A few- well I would look at the poster.

What if in this mix, they were all cam/dcam, or an ACH in a cam/dcam?

How does ones mind think in regards to collect ability?

as for the melt- I laugh out loud- even a plain ol proof has a value of minimum 10x face, and that does not take in the 'market volatility'.

I'm sure that when you 'sell' you want as much as you can get for them- like any other collector/wannabee dealer.

If dealers are paying about 10x face for junk silver now, then I'd say something around 11x is fair.

16-18x face for the proof stuff if it is mostly Frankies. Everybody else here is either cheep or clueless. It is a known fact the bulk silver has different rates for the rolls. It's like saying you would pay the same for a roll of full date SLQ's or WAS. Good luck with that. In fact I have found the proof franklins are some of the easiest and most liquid of the 90% silver out there. Problem is people want to price them individually and then not so much. Also the more 50s in the lot, the more the price goes up up up. A nice mixed roll mid 50's-64 easy $225 retail mostly 60's=$175 all 50's= $375+++++. Roll that have scuffs and are dated 61-64 are still $150 retail which is 15 face retail as for the bottom.

I dont think its fair to look at melt value on Proof coins maybe circulate but not proof coins. Not if you want to buy them anyway

With at least one 55 in there, X face is not the proper way to buy and be fair

well now you are changing the terms of the deal. first it was a bunch
of assorted proof coins in lower MS grades. To me, a 63-64 is common/nothing special. Would you not say almost every proof coin
out of the packaging is that grade?

now you are saying they are cam/dcam? still nothing really special
to me unless high grade material which could be slabbed for a profit.

if the seller wants to find people who think they are "collectible" so be it. they can max out their profits.

but if i bought them and had a chance to sell them for more then melt
i have to take into account my time, ebay/paypal fees, possible slabbing, etc... after all that i then try to eke out a 10-20% profit..
    whoopty doo.

melt. even in your own post you mention 9 times face. all i was saying
    is 8 to 8.5.

fc- all I threw into this mix of questioning was the cam/dcam. This response was based on what some are thinking as junk silver halves. When in fact they are proofs pulled from OGP's long ago and recently.

The bulk is the 50's - 55-59, then of course the balance is 60-64.

When one sez he will pay 60x face for a 55, then a person must think where does the x face start to roll downwards - ie- 11,10,9 etc.

I said 9x as a reference point, not as an exact number, hell some dealers actually price out a bulk lot in this case we are only talking 44 total coins- and would at times come to a fair offer, not always, but there are a few out there.

60x face= $30.00 for a 55 that is a 65/66? emm- I can send that one in for grade and make it worth more down the road. I know it all depends if it will hit that grade (i'm sure it will I already own both a 5 & 6).

and this thread is not a sell my crap thread it was an ask a ? thread....

Sorry about your auction, would have been better off wholesale. But thats not really a proof it's a comm. What you ment to say no one is out looking for modern comm's and some one got a solid deal. That coin has nothing to do with Proof Franklins other then being 90%.
